By now, most Americans understand that, rather than being duped by flawed intelligence into invading Iraq, the Bush administration used flawed intelligence to dupe the American people into a costly and unnecessary war that has left us worse off strategically than before.
As I watch the pundits agree that it's a big mess, there's no easy solution and we're pretty much stuck there to prevent the end of the world, I'm reminded of a parable.
There once was a fire chief named Bush Cheney who, in pursuit of his own agenda, went out to the tank farm by the airport and set off an incendiary device that caused a tank to explode into flames. There followed a chain reaction of other tanks erupting into fireballs as engine companies from the surrounding area raced to battle the spreading inferno.
As the firemen bravely manned the hoses to save the surrounding community, some even dying in the effort, one of the witnesses who saw Bush Cheney start the conflagration frantically pointed him out to the police chief.
The police chief sternly responded, "What's done is done. The important thing now is to find a solution. You're just eroding the men's morale."

I wasn't sure where the story was going, and actually I agree "What's done is done .." but Cheney saying that then not putting his tail between his legs for the duration is as hypocritical as it gets.

James,
Your buddy "Rambo" can't seem to stomach the fact that Cheney is a bigger draft dodger than Clinton ever thought of being. Is he mentally ill(neocon)? His posts are getting more bizarre with each passing day...he even attacked a 12 year old (see thread above) for being 12 years old! He either works third shift, or his high water mark is posting on this blog! Either way, he is such a dolt. Fill us in on what you know.

Easy to see the desperation in the Canadian wannabee's post.

I like the "cuteness" to what this LTTE wrote! It does resonate with the BS stories that have been flowing from DC like loose bowel movements!

Darryl,
It would truly be funny if people weren't dying for Bush's idiotic war.

Darryl,
Every night I alternate between reading books and making up stories for my 4 year old at bed time. They usually involve a worm, a woodpecker, a prince, or a boy living on a farm.
Last night I told him a story about a fire chief. I'm not kidding. I'm serious.
It was about a fire chief looking for a new fire dog because his had retired. He finally found one but it didn't have spots and the other firemen laughed about the dog and wouldn't accept him. So he painted spots on the fire dog and presented him as a different dog and the and the dog turned out to be a great fire dog.
He would unroll the hoses and help sniff out people in the burning houses, etc.
The other firemen loved him.
One day he accidentally got water sprayed on him and it washed off his spots.
The fire chief was horrified and afraid they'd kick the dog off the force. However, the other firemen did not care because the fire dog had been such a good dog they didn't care whether or not he had spots.
This has absolutely nothing to do with this letter. Just thought it was weird to read this letter today.

TLC, regardless of the circumstances, war is NEVER funny! The cuteness to which I refer is how the LTTE writer used a fictional (close to home) satire to convey a message.
If my previous post inferred humor, I apologize as that was not the intent nor desire.

No problem Darryl. I am just so amazed at the arrogance and ignorance that has cost the lives of so many of our bravest souls. This includes the over 3,100 dead and the many thousands that have been injured and the over 3,000 who have deserted the Army over the Iraq war.
Colin Powell, said, "You break it, you own it" but now the Bush "Apologists" don't want to take ownership of THEIR war.
If Bush gets pushed into a "REAL" war, he will be like the boy who cried wolf. He has no credibility and only has the "kooks" left to support him.

Did any of you "Gung Ho" Bushies see the NewsWeek Story on Army Deserters?
By Sarah Childress
Newsweek
Updated: 5:25 p.m. ET March 27, 2007
March 27, 2007 - Why are so many soldiers deserting their posts? This week, the Army announced that 3,301 active-duty soldiers had deserted the Army in 2006— over 800 more than had been previously reported. (The initial figure, the Army said, had been tallied incorrectly.) It's hardly at Vietnam-era levels, but it's still a significant number given that the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are being fought by an all-volunteer military.

Yep, over 3,000 deserted last year! Can't wait to see the spin from neocon and his make believe cadre of warriors! LOL!!

Darryl, JDR & Denzien,
This article from NewsWeek on desertion is unbelieveable. The last two pages are the real meat of the story, and it will only get worse, not better.

"Why are so many soldiers deserting their posts?"
That's a slam dunk...they are cowards like American citizens who cower under the Canadian flag when traveling abroad.

Cowards huh?
Maybe in the eyes of some. While I believe that they are not being truthful to what they signed on the proverbial "dotted line" to do, I will not go to the length of calling such people coward. Rather, I see this as realizing that they are involved in something that the US Military should have NEVER became involved! I believe a term I read was "cannon fodder."
There are still other ways for these military personnel to end their service without going AWOL. Regardless, their records will reflect the decision/s made.
If ANY of these military personnel have deserted because they have been convinced that war is wrong and abhorable, then I commend these people and will stand by them unquestionably. To have viewed war up close and realized the senselessness of it is a great thing. While I have not, I believe this because of religious/faith conviction.
I admire each person in the military, because there is "that of God" in each one; therefore, I love them.
TLC, thanks for the link. I will read it later today.

Not just cowards, but bed wetting, limp wristed cowards. What did they think they were signing up for...digging wel...uh...passing out wate...uh...
Be sure to read the links throughly, sweet pea. They're from MesSNBC and will no doubt try to justify why these cowards joined the military only to find they lost their balls when it was showtime.

Well, the world has to have ditch diggers too, so I guess neocon has some place in the world.

No straw man there, Herr Denzien. Here is a piece of the MesSNBC link:
"NEWSWEEK: Why are so many soldiers deserting?
Jeffry House: The common idea is that the war in Iraq is going nowhere, and it's bogus, as I've been told [by soldiers] many times."
This is trying to justify why the soldiers deserted, no?
To the bed wetting liberals it is perfectly ok to desert your comrades IF it is Bush's war they are fleeing. I understand this, and this is the point of the link provided.
*****************************************
"Denzien,
neocon is only capable of building strawmen as his ideas are ridiculous at best"...echoed the Canadian wannabee who lost his balls not on the battlefield, but in the air conditioned civilian airports of Europe.
"Well, the world has to have ditch diggers too, so I guess neocon has some place in the world"...
Yes, I have dug ditches. I have also been in situations where the Canadian flag would be no help at all.
Ever had someone die in your arms from gunshot wounds, world traveler?...Didn't think so. You are the biggest bed wetter of them all and are unfit to wipe the ass of one of those soldiers who did not desert their fellow man.

"This is trying to justify why the soldiers deserted, no?"
You have been completely blinded by your own bias. Did you read the headline of the article in question?
"'People Are Very Disheartened'
The number of soldiers deserting the U.S. Army is rising. A defense lawyer discusses what they're saying about leaving their posts-and whether they're likely to find sanctuary in Canada."
Discussion of does not mean advocation of. You been hanging out with Dan again?

'People Are Very Disheartened'...Uh, yes I read this first. It was the first thing one sees when clicking on the MesSNBC link.
I imagine there were a few 'disheartened' ones among the participants of Operation Overlord in 1944 also but they never had apologist Jeffry House there to wipe their nose and powder their ass and take their cause to the Bush hating 'Newsweek' editors did they?
Although I'm honored that you have made some rare time for me here Herr Denzien, however I have grown weary of your attempts to justify the yellow streaks of these bed wetting cowards who fled to Canada, deserted their fellow soldiers, and left them there to take the heat.
But I understand...these limp wristed, weak-kneed deserters are the real heroes to you and the cowardly Canadian wannabee, world traveler.
Have a good evening. :]

Took you 3 days to come up with that and I'm supposed to be honored or something like that that you have made a little time for me?
Run along and play sonny. Or go back to work in your air conditioned cubicle and try to think of some more clever ways to explain why the deserters are the REAL heroes. You and your ilk who try to justify why these yellow bastards turned tail and run to Canada makes me a bit nauseous.
