Wiccans are not of God

Thank you so much for the article, "Wiccans gather to celebrate faith" (April 9). It was interesting and most informative. I really do appreciate it.

This article gave me the perfect tool to use when discussing faith with my daughter. It will demonstrate to her what not to believe in. For what is not of God is evil. And, as we know, the Wiccan belief system is not of God.

that denial of self thing doesn't appeal to the option of casting spells on dorothy...(even ernest angsley gave the credit to the lord...)

lol,

Christainity is just as unbelievable as Wiccan beliefs.
Well, having known some Wiccans, I retract that. Christianity is harder to believe that Wiccanism??

There's not one Christian out there that can prove the Bible as truth. Simply can not be done.

This nation will be a great one once it rids itself of Christian hypocrasy.

These are of course my opinions.

The Wiccan creed states "Do what thou wilt, but harm none." Sure doesn't sound very evil to me.

My first thought is; "How old is Ms. Morgan's daughter. My second is similiar; "Does Ms. Morgan have to dictate to her daughter what to believe/not believe?"

How sad to have such a control issue over the life of others, regardless of age. Even young children can believe in things that parents may not agree with. I wonder if Ms. Morgan dictates a belief in the following to her daughter; the tooth fairy, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus? NEITHER of those three have any foundations in the Christian religion, yet, throngs of Christians permit the "worship" thereof for their children.

If Ms. Morgan allows her daughter to believe in any of the three aforementioned, the I rest my case: Ms. Morgan is the epitomy of hypocrisy and why some will not listen to sound basis for Christian faith. How sad.

Shalom

Mr. Harper,

Since you are so smart(based on the fact that all republicans are stupid according to your post in the college republican thread) We dumb republican chritians would love to hear how you can prove that the teachings of the bible are not true. I am by no means a "religious Right bible thumper as I'm sure you think all ignorant republicans are, but I do understand people like you have been trying to disprove the teachings for 2000 years with no success. I am skepitcal of most things but have seen enough through my faith to belive. Can you please provide your evidence that the bible is fake for us ignorant people. By the way while your at it go ahead and solve the rest of the worlds problems while your at it

It isn't necessary or obligatory for Mr Harper, myself, or anyone else to prove anyone's scriptures are not true. The onus of proof lies on those who would claim that those scriptures' claims, temporal and supernatural, are true.
Isaac Newton knew that biblical creation myths were tales designed to entertain vulgar minds, historians further back than Thomas Jefferson and John Adams knew that biblical history was spotty and revisionary, and there are many compendia of biblical errors, omissions, and contradictions available, as any causal search in a library or the internet will show.
Since no one's scriptures have solved the world's problems as of yet, may we take that as a minimal amount of "proof" that those extant scriptures are lacking in whatever it will indeed take to solve those problems?
I wonder just how those who are Christians expect those of us who are not to respond to such bigoted blather as Ms Morgan's rude, presumptuous, and insulting letter. If the table was turned, would they turn the other cheek? Would they be peacemakers? Since their god brags about doing evil and plays conjuring tricks in their scriptures, it's sort of hard for some of us to make the distinction Ms Morgan thinks is so obvious.

Jennifer, next time be sure to mention that although you believe in God, you hate Bush.

At least this will put you in the neutral zone and you will not stir up the ire of the atheists.

This is a fact that has been proven time and again, not only on this blog, but others as well.

Sorry, Cap'n Huff'n'Puff, but most of us, atheists and believers alike, are not so monthematic (and monotonous) as you. We can actually consider two disparate concepts as indeed separate and have a separate opinion backed by separate sets of data about each. Of course, we don't depend on extremist internet blogs for our data and give everything we don't agree with a simplistic label to avoid thinking, either.
Pretend to be a human being and quit piddling on yourself.

I sure hope that Ms. Morgan's daughter learns an important lesson from her mother's lessons on religion: that calling others' religions "evil" only leads to prejudice and hatred... which are themselves not very pretty at all.

2fer and Nemo--express much of what I was going to say. We are talking about faith which is something that we believe in. Typically, it is not provable but that's ok and if you want I can't prove it doesn't exist--really can't be done. But then it's Faith--I respect other people's faith to a point that, as 2fer states "calling others' religions evil only leads to prejudice and hatred ...which are themselves not very pretty as well." We shouldn't but we often times make criticisms about that which we have not "fully" studied, examined and tried on for size. I am a Catholic and have tried out various other Christian faiths and have found them all pretty solid. I have some back-ups now if I choose to use them.

GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS.

BAD NEWS:
Wiccans are new target of right wing Christians.

GOOD NEWS: Other targets get a break for a while. LOL!

As a previous poster said, It's not my burden to prove the Bible wrong, it's the believers burden to prove it true, which can't be done.
That's why belief in Christianity is called "faith"
The errors and contradictions are many, and the hypocrisy is rampant.
I used to argue with a preacher all the time about the age of the earth. He would tell me the Bible basically says it can't be more than 6000 years old. Funny, same preacher man couldn't explain away carbon dating, radioactive isotopic dating and plain common sense.
lol at you believers of a tall tale.

The difference between bigotry and religion is often imperceptible.

Bring on the Chocolate Jesus!

Reminds me of the old song,

"I don't care if it rains or freezes,
long as I've got my 'chocolate' Jesus sitting on the dashboard of my car....."
