The best suggestion in a long time is Irwin Smallwood's ambitious idea (News & Record, May 30) that we dismantle the facade of Memorial Stadium and rebuild it brick by brick as the entrance to the Greensboro Coliseum parking lot where it would serve as a public and proper reminder of the military heroes who have died in wars serving their country. The elegant facade should live on, not crumble and fade away through disregard and neglect as it surely will if left where it is.

Charles,
No one would be paying attention, rather they'd be cursing the price of parking. I know I would not be thinking of war heroes as I plop down my exhorbitant fee.

The saddest part is that these fallen men whom War Memorial Stadium was built to honor have already been forgotten. Were that not the case, then something better would have been proposed for that grand old stadium. Instead, it was left to deteriorate from the elements without any care or concern for its fate.
TLC is correct in the assessment of rebuilding the facade at the GSO Coliseum. It is too costly to care to remember these veterans.
Oh for the day when building monuments to soldiers is but a far distant memory.

Conservative...I didn't realize that $4.00 for some events is an exorbanant fee...I know that for concerts they charge a higher rate, but $10 for parking at the Colisuem is great. Since you have to pay more and park blocks away when you goto Charlotte.

new2gso,
I suppose you were addressing me? How can you compare Greensboro to Charlotte?
No pro football, no pro basketball....and on, and on, and on.
