I have read your paper for something over seven decades, and even carried the evening paper for awhile. I also served as editor for several years of a civic newspaper with a 2,500 circulation. Thus, I feel fairly qualified to judge the News & Record as excellent.
The whole tone of your paper is straightforward, fair-minded and constantly improving. I am amazed sometimes about how good — even great — your captions and headlines are. The format and make-up are pleasing to the eye and well-organized. Your special features and extra sections are much appreciated.
Though I don't agree with all of them, your op-ed columns are topical and well-chosen, with pertinent comments on the city and world in which we live. Your staff writers are excellent. I particularly like your sportswriters. Ed Hardin can be flamboyant and dogmatic, but he can really write. I marvel sometimes at how well they all write on deadline.
On a more personal note, I greatly appreciate your policy of placing the paper at the front door of handicapped persons. I then begin each day by reading it pretty much beginning to end. Starting the day off right.

I could not agree more with the lte. That is if you want one sided news. Just check the lte, I have never once read a bad word about what goes on in this state in a lte in this paper. Just look at the letters that have appeared in many papers, that show up in the NR. If you like bias liberal news, the NR has you covered.

i used to have a boss named harold. he was fun to work for except he'd keep a pop bottle full of bacca juice atween his legs when he drove. we built swimming pools together. at the end of the job, we'd stand back to see how many bacca juice stains were on the perlite walls we'd constructed.
we went to work out of town. we took harold to a movie. it was "one flew over the cuckoo's nest." during the part where chief bromden was smothering r.p. mcmurphy, harold was laughing out loud in the packed theatre. he really liked it when mcmurphy was kicking and flailing to save his life. me and my friend slid down in our seats.
he also liked the news and record...

Some find it difficult to tolerate the opinion of others. This LTTE writer noted something he DID NOT like about the N & R; "Though I don't agree with all of them, your op-ed columns are topical and well-chosen, with pertinent comments on the city and world in which we live."
Which of the previous people posting can say they receive the paper edition of the N & R and pretty much "reading it beginning to end" to begin their day?

I quit taking the paper 10 years ago started listening to Rush Limbaugh. That's all I need to know.

Yes, I do nothing but listen to Rush. It's horrible that his show isn't on during the weekends. It's the most terrible part of my life. I don't know what to do then, it's so confusing.
I've tried the others, Bortz, Hannity, Savage, Ingrahm but they're not the same as my mentor and guiding guru, Rush.
Even television doesn't give me a fix. I tried O'Reilly but I can't seem to get past his yelling. Hannity is milk toast.
Occasionally I see Michelle Malkin but she makes me want to look at porn on the computer so I turn off the TV.
It's all Rush's fault. I don't know what to do when he's not on the radio, telling me how to live, think, etc.

Hugh says,
"I quit taking the paper 10 years ago started listening to Rush Limbaugh. That's all I need to know."
Kitty says,"Hugh, do what I do...eat your young and burn as much fossil fuels as possible on the weekends."
There's no need for more insight into last week's 26% and this week's 24% of Americans approving of George W. Bush. Those two quotes above are representative of the "HARDCORE" support. Call it ADD, PTSD, ADHD, mental retardation, handicapped or whatever you please...it is scary!

How lucky everyone is to have THE LIBERAL CANADIAN tell everyone what was just said.
How do you do that?
