I see where some people are asking if the NFL is going to impose the same penalty on Michael Vick as it did on some players from another time. They question whether the penalty will be the same, as these former players were white.
But they seem to have forgotten that Vick was not just arrested for involvement in gambling but also for dogfighting. Dogfighting is a crime that should be condemned by both the black and white communities. Yet some famous entertainers get on national TV and give the impression that they condone it.
Why do people with fame and fortune do such stupid things? They think they're above the law.
The sad part is that young men see people like Vick and they want to copy them. They would do well instead to copy Colin Powell, Bill Cosby and any number of outstanding black men as role models.
Anyone have a rebuttal to this? I think not.

Or as "meow" is dying to say, "What's bad for Vick, is bad for Democrats"!
Ha! Ha!

Rebuttal, I Know So!
Bill Cosby may be a very good role model. Colin Powell, on the other hand, should not be mentioned as a role model. He was a major force behind the war and lied about a weapon of mass destruction. With all the people that have been killed and that are going to be killed, it is almost the same injustice as a dog killer. In fact, humans are more valuable to God than dogs! Have you ever heard of "Scraps from the table?" All Killing is wrong! You swallow a camel and get strangled on a nat. The truth need no rebuttal, you can tell it over and over. Christ is the only role model anyone needs!

Oh lord, god....or whatever.
I uh, agreed with TBJ, and then...well, he lost me.
And Colin Powell, well, I think he was set up, and he was smart enough to know it, which is why he was got the hell out of W's Cabinet. Bill Cosby's got some skeletons, too, we all do.
Except for Warrick Dunn, you go, little man!
I am glad to see with Vick, that money DOES NOT change everything. It doesn't make everything alright. The NFL has policies about gambling and misbehaving, and not about dog fighting. Let the feds and state take up the dogfighting charges, because their laws do have teeth on this, and they can and should penalize him.
What I think Whoopi was trying to say, was that Vick grew up in an environment where this kind of animal abuse was tolerated. I grew up in McLeansville, while I did not see it, I know classmates talked about cockfighting, it was sport to them. They didn't see anything wrong. A kid that grows up with neighbors, grandparents and parents participating in this "sport", don't see the wrong. Until of course, the world rises up against them.
Yes, I ate chicken then, but the way my Grandmother treated those birds, right up to their final moment, when she dispatched them herself, was very different to how Vick treated his animals. Oh mercy, her fried chicken was good, mainly because it lived right, I do believe.
Fame and fortune just seems to magnify the person who has it. Money sure doesn't seem to make a stupid person smarter.
Of course, when I win the lottery, folks will think I'm brilliant...
I like your style too, TLC!

Unless "race" or "ethnicity" is really germane to an issue, let's leave it out. Good points can get lost because an argument or point of view gets side tracked into becoming racial instead of what the point was to begin with.
