Now they're breeding
Our Inside Beat blog has spun off a new blog called Capital Beat. Written by Raleigh-bureau reporter Mark Binker (who recently moved to that beat from the Guilford County government beat), Capital Beat will focus on state government and politics with an eye toward how they affect us here at home.
Guess I need to check the links in my sidebar and on our home page to make sure they're updated appropriately.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if our political leaders wrote blogs like you people are doing at the News-Record. Maybe the professional lobbyists would not have as much power. At least our leaders would be forced to remember what Bill Clinton said (I am no fan of his) that he ran for the Presidency every day. Every day was election day. Well, that has a real down side, but it sure worked for him. At least the blogging would keep a sense of humility in the rarified air of political power.

Henry, I don't know if you're local or not, but around here at least some of our elected officials -- Tom Phillips and Sandy Carmany on City Council, to name just two -- do blog. There's a link to local politicians' blogs from the News & Record's home page.
But there's no reason why people higher up the political food chain -- Mel Watt, Howard Coble, Richard Burr, Elizabeth Dole, I'm talking to you -- couldn't blog as well.
