When you're on hold with Seattle city government, the phone plays music by Seattle-area musicians rather than Muzak.

How cool is that?

That is extremely cool. How about some Polecat Creek for Greensboro government phones?

Patrick: Exactly that kind of thing, yes. And Jeri Rowe (editor emeritus at GoTriad and about to become a local columnist for the N&R) tells me he is going to pursue this issue in some fashion, although I don't know what his timetable is.

Nutmeg9: Well, they could say it's "local music," but not "local musicians" (in most cases). That said, I'm in fact surprised that there's no sweetheart deal to that effect in place. Someone's leaving some money on the table. ;-)
