Yeah, no journalist is going to gripe about someone wearing that shirt. But there are reasons that it might strike one as un-funny. Say, like this:

I think if I were as liberal as some people think I am, then I'd find a t-shirt that read "Rope. Tree. Republican ... " just HIGH-larious. (Plus you've got the alliteration thing going.) But in real life? No, not so much.

So, Lex, you think advocating the murdering of people for their political beliefs is funny? How about the murder of almost 3000 Americans on 9/11? Is that funny to you, too?
