Comments on the fritz

More than one would-be commenter has e-mailed today to say that they're not being allowed to post comments. I'm not sure what's up with that, and I've got a deadline to meet today for print so I doubt I'll have time to run it down.

What I will do, however, is post comments for you if you e-mail them to me. In addition to the comment you want to post and the thread you want to post it on and whether or not it's OK to link to your e-mail address and/or Web site, please describe as specifically as possible what you were doing, where on the blog you were doing it (which post, I mean) and exactly what the error message you got said. That'll aid me in running down the problem later.

Thanks, and I'm sorry this is happening.

Keeping comments offline on a hot Friday afternoon doesn't seem like SUCH a bad idea. Go write, Lex. See you next week.

Lex,

Are the News-Records's blogs hosted on TypePad? If so, they've had problems with their servers this week. Dan Rubin at the Philadelphia Inquirer had the same problem with comments at his blog Blinq.

My July 12 posts did not show up until they were recovered July 13 and I reposted them.

So, if you are using TypePad, their problems may be a reason your readers' coments are not appearing.

"Talk about truth report isn't very loud yet "

Why this title for that article? What if the crest has already been reached and it's all downhill for the TRC and it's report? Will you write about that with the same interest?

Type Pad is still having problems on other sites.

Although we use TypeKey authentication for the Letters to the Editor "blog", it isn't required for our staff blogs. We do *not* host the service with TypePad, however.

If you're having trouble commenting on any of our blogs, please visit http://www.news-record.com/help/feedback and describe the problem you encountered in as much detail as you can so we can try to identify the cause of the problem.

Thanks so much for your interest and participation on our blogs! It isn't the online community of our dreams yet, but you're helping us get there.

To all: I've been on vacation and am only now seeing your comments. Thanks for them.

Munir: Thanks for the info and suggestions. As Stephen pointed out, we're not hosted on Typepad, but it's good to know the environment in which we're operating nonetheless.

Hugh: I didn't write the headline and I generally shy away from predictions, but given the fact that a number of events are in the works, I think it's safe to say that the crest hasn't been reached. Of course, I could be wrong. I'll see what happens and report what I see.
