Not much.

Billy Yow had an epiphany and has joined both the Democratic Party AND the NAACP.

Skip Alston has agreed to personally fund the Civil Rights museum.

Keith Holliday agreed that the T&R commission was right and is going to ask the City Council to pay reparations to everyone who lived in Morningside Homes at the time. He'll take the money out of the Police Department Budget.

Tom Phillips has developed a fascination with Elmo and Sponge Bob Square Pants and has resigned from the City Council so that he'd have more time to spend watching TV.

It was announced that the Coliseum MADE money and is giving it over to the OTHER War Memorial for its renovation.

Oprah has decided to take over Bennett College when Johnetta Cole leaves, just because she likes Greensboro so much and Stedman wants to come "home." Bennett will now be tuition free with Oprah paying for the entire place.

The Greensboro Planning Department and Zoning Commission has been dismantled because, "Enough is enough," said Jim Melvin. There will be no more new building in Greensboro.

You know. Business as usual.

Well, my work here is done, then.

Sort of off the subject, but the N&R seems to be the s-l-o-w-e-s-t loading webpage I open on a regular basis.
I see this slowness when opening the front page, and also when accessing LTE, and various blogs. It either won't open at all, or the status bar stops about halfway and hangs up, making me reload/refresh.
Is it just me??
Thanks.

Dunno. Tell me what operating system (XP, Win2K, OS X, etc.) and browser version (IE 6, Firefox 1.5, whatever) you're using and I'll run it past our tech folks and see what they know. Thanks!

jaycee said:

Lex, I run Windows XP (Home Edition) and Firefox 1.5.0.5 for a browser.
I connect using RoadRunner, and most everything else is very fast. I just have loading problems with the N&R site.

Of course, it could be the NSA intercept on my line that's slowing it down...LOL.

Lex said:

Nah, given the universal nature of the NSA surveillance, that would slow EVERYONE down. :-)

It may have to do with our recent server migration. But at any rate, I'm checking with Team Tech and will see whether they can enlighten us. FWIW, I haven't been having any problems with the news site, although some of the blogs (hosted on a different server) have been a bit slow.

OK, thanks, Lex.
It's nothing I can't survive, just annoying at times.

Lex said:

jaycee, if you would, please go to http://www.news-record.com/help/feedback and fill out a form. That process will provide a good bit of technical info that can help our folks troubleshoot the problem. Otherwise, they say, the possibilities are just too many to even know where to start. It also will create a record of the problem so that a rigorous troubleshooting process can be followed, you can be contacted if they need add'l info, etc.

Thanks!
