Fun article about how it's filmed, if you are at all into the wonderment that is "Iron Chef."
I've been using my freezer a lot lately, so when I came across this today, I was very interested. It's freezer tips from Cooks Illustrated, one of my favorite cooking magazines out there. It's not very flashy, but it's full of substance, and it's one of the few magazines I read cover to cover. It's a PDF, so it might take a couple minutes to load.
I was scrolling through the Biz Buzz blog when I came across an entry about the Moose Cafe opening up here:
A full-service restaurant will open next month at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market.
The Moose Cafe, a restaurant at the Asheville-area farmers market, plans to expand with a branch at the Colfax daily market that serves the Triad. The restaurant, which could employ about 60 local people, will be open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week and for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights.
I can't wait! My husband and I took a trip to Asheville maybe two years ago, and we happened to eat at the Moose Cafe while in town. It was one of the best Southern food restaurants I have ever happened across! The biscuits were huge, flaky and melt-in-your-mouth good. The apple buttter was amazing, and my chicken-fried steak was one of the best I've ever had.
The restaurant in Asheville has been noticed by others, too. It's been featured in "Southern Living Magazine," which is what made us stop in. If you google Moose Cafe, Asheville, you'll get dozens of hits about its food -- did I mention the biscuits?
If the one that opens up here is half as good as the one in Asheville, you'll see me there quite a bit.
Now through March 31st, take 60% off all dining certificates at Restaurant.com by using coupon code: MADNESS
That’s just $4 for $25 certificates and $1.20 for $10 certificates. (They are already discounted before you apply the code -- my math isn't that wrong, I don't think.)
Just make sure you read the stipulations for the certificates. (For example, a $25 gift certificate must be used on two dinner entrees totalling $35 or more, etc.)
I just got:
Solaris Tapas Restaurant & Bar Dining Certificate Value: $25 (off a $35 meal)
Minj Grille Dining Certificate Value: $10 (off a $15 meal)
Montego Bay Dining Certificate Value: $10 (off a $15 meal)
all for $6.40.
