The first CD from Garabage since 2001's "Beautiful Garbage" is probably their best effort since their self-titled debut was released 10 years ago.
While the track "Bad Boyfriend" features Dave Grohl on drums, it's an unnecessary cameo on an album that showcases the talents of the band itself.
Garbage has dumped the electronica and gone back to straight up pop/rock.
Shirley Manson sounds better than ever - her vocals showing emotion and more range.
Though the band broke up during the recording of the album, it's a good thing they got back together.
From the slow roller of "It's All Over But the Crying" to the upbeat "Metal Heart" to the rock of "Bad Boyfriend," the CD as a whole shows a return to form for the band.
The first single, "Why do you love me," is one of the weaker tracks on the CD, but no less enjoyable.
"Bleed Like Me" also showcases the energy of the band. I remember seeing them in concert at UNC-Charlotte about 5 years ago, and was impressed by the non-stop energy of Manson who bounced around like she was giving an aerobics class while performing.
The 11-track CD has a running time of just over 45 minutes.

This CD proves that Garbage can never die, all the tracks are awesome, and the newest single is quite tongue and cheek, and I just love her voice and the boys' producing style. 5/5 I say!

This is an excellent album, which is way better than Beautiful Garbage (2001) in my opinion, and probably closest in style to Version 2.0. "Bad Boyfriend" opens with rocking guitars and rather amusing lyrics "say what sugar, you wanna get what?" haha.
Best songs on the album are "Sex Is Not The Enemy" (damn catchy), "Run Baby Run", "Bad Boyfriend", "Metal Heart" and "Bleed Like Me".
Interestingly, something that this album does more so than the others, is the way it references music from the eighties (there is a Debbie Harry moment here and there), and the sixties - to the point where certain riffs or melodies strongly remind me of some old song in my parents collection.
Finally, all these comments about Garbage having 'ditched' the electronica for a straight rock album are rather unfounded, as the electronic influence is still very heavy (though again, not so much as it was on Beautiful Garbage) - one only needs to listen to the intros to some of the songs to hear it (try "Metal Heart" and "Boys Wanna Fight" for starters...)
RATING: 8.5/10

I´m a huge fan of Garbage and I was anxious for the release of this album! It´s a love at second or more times, because it's a rough album and not so melodic as Version 2.0 or as catchy ( beaifulgarbage for me doesn´t count excepet for ?Nobody Loves You?) ! I love particularly 'Run Baby Run' and Shirley is superb singing sweetly 'It's all over but the crying', they´re still unique, and amazing!!
