System of a Down will tour this summer with the Mars Volta in what's sure to be an incredible show.
I've never seen either band live, but would travel a reasonable distance to see both bands on the same bill.
If you haven't heard them before, the Mars Volta are exactly what music needs right now - an intense, extremely talented band.
The Mars Volta is like listening to Rush, Led Zepplin, Blind Melon and Frank Zappa all rolled into one.
No details on the tour yet, but you can bet I'll be watching it closely.

System of a Down sounds uncannily like the fake band in the old Comedy Central show "Strangers With Candy." I think they were called Buddha Stalin.
That's one way of saying they're not good. Not at all. Just more bleak music about vaguely defined bleak topics that aren't really relevant once you get out of high school.
In other other words, they're a poor man's Green Day. A very poor man's Green Day.
I'll need to check out Mars Volta, though.

I agree that System of a Down isn't the greatest band out there. While I think half of their songs are great, the other half belong in the garbage can.
I do think they break the rules now and then and come up with something great - and I've heard their live show is impressive.
Definitely check out the Mars Volta. Their latest album is one of the best albums I've heard in the past couple of years. I'll try and get a full review up this weekend.
