So, Carrie Underwood won the American Idol title. Not that I was a huge fan of Bo's - I did think he was the better singer of the two - but I'm not sure she was the best singer on the show.
First of all - she has no personality. Her one word answers are pretty bad, and most of the time when she is "singing" it's more like screaming.
Bo impressed me with his a capella song two weeks ago, but he was horrible this week.
Oh well, the fame will fade in a short time anyway - how many people will buy her album if it's steeped in country music?
Probably the same amount that bought Fantasia's or Ruben's R&B album.
There isn't a mass audience for these pigeon-holed performers.

It pays to look like Marsha Brady.

Jeff -
Fantasia is being reconized by the music industry and I think that is what's important. :-) I believe that is what her goal was, to be accepted and respected for her talent. She is being compared and praised by big named stars in the business, Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle just to name a few. I don't think she expected her fans of the show to go out and buy multiple copies of her CD to *make* her in the business like the fans of Clay Aiken are known for doing for him. She's earning the respect of her peers and doing great! So is Ruben. :-)
