Here's my thoughts on the VMAs:
- Green Day's opening performance was kind of weak. It just did nothing for me.
- "They call me 'Diddy.'" No, Sean, you call yourself "Diddy." We call you crazy.
- These awards are for videos... first off, MTV rarely plays videos anymore. And I wonder if these are really awards for the videos or for the songs.
- Does Kanye West have to mention the release date of his new album every time he opens his mouth?
- Ludacris' performance started off weak, but when other dancers and singers came out - it "kicked it up a notch."
- Best Rock Video. The Killers are not rock.
- Am I really looking at MC Hammer? Wow.... I'm glad it's not a commercial.
- Shakira looks like she's lip synching. What a disappointment. Actually, I think she's using a "backing track." Close enough.
- This R. Kelly soap opera is getting worse by the second. How many times can he say "Rufus" and "Chuck"? Why do people actually like this? And he's lip synching.... It may have been better if there were other people playing different characters. Nope. All we get is R. Kelly.
- Mr. Combs addresses the "Diddy" issue. And we still don't care...
- The Killers are performing now, and I still don't like them.
- Jeremy Piven made fun of Lil Kim going to jail - seems to be a theme of that from time to time.
- Ludacris wins best rap video. It's the worst song, but probably the best video. Maybe they truly are "video awards."
- A well-done combination of a live Snoop Dogg with a video of Notorius B.I.G. is next.
- Coldplay's performance - I thought the vocals were weak.
- Best Pop Video. Ashlee Simpson - please, no. Lindsay Lohan - if she wins I'm banning MTV. Kelly Clarkson gets it. OK, that's reasonable. And funny that she got lost on the way to the stage.
- Kanye West with Jamie Foxx. I still think Kanye is popular because of the samples he chooses. I like Ray Charles.
- Why is there a comedian on the video music awards?
- The Killers win best new artist. Why? Aren't they from the 80s? They sure sound like it...
- Is Mariah Carey lip synching too? What's going on here.....?
- Gorillaz win for breakthrough video. Good choice!
- 50 Cent and Fat Joe don't get along.
- A surprise performance by My Chemical Romance. This is a surprise? Why? We saw them all night.... A surprise would have been Guns N Roses again, or how about Pink Floyd?
- Green Day has won seven of eight awards they were nominated for including Viewer's Choice and Video of the Year. Rock is still alive!
- The big ending performer... Kelly Clarkson. Wh-wh-what?!? Mr Combs says, "You're not gonna belive this!" He's right. I can't believe the big show-closer is Kelly Clarkson. It's now raining inside the theatre. Is that the big surprise?
- I'm disappointed.
