« CD Review: Blues Traveler "!Bastardos!" | Main | Notes on the VMAs »

This week's new releases

Here's your weekly look at the new releases of the week and, hopefully, some bands with animal names....

30 Seconds to Mars "A Beautiful Lie" - Another one of those bands-with-actors releases. This one has Jared Leto at the helm. I heard the first single, and though it's not that bad, I can't stop from thinking, "There's an actor singing."

Brooks & Dunn "Hillbilly Deluxe" - I'm not a fan of country music...

Eric Clapton "Back Home" - It's Eric Clapton. Though I've heard some bad things about his latest release of originals...

Cold "A Different Kind of Pain" - They had a hit a few years back with "Stupid Girl." I wonder how this one will measure up.

Honky "Balls Out In" - It has J. D. Pinkus of the Butthole Surfers. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

OK Go "Oh No" - I'd stick these guys on the shelf right next to The Killers. That's the "They're kinda popular and I don't know why" shelf.

Rihanna "Music of the Sun" - "Pon de Replay" sure is a catchy song. Something tells me that Rihanna is destined for one-hit-wonder land.

Kanye West "The Late Registration" - It's easy to have hit songs when you sample hit songs. I'm still not impressed by West's singles. I only recognize the familiar sample.

Those animal bands: The Coral (well, it is a living thing...) and the Roadrunner 25th Anniversary DVD.

Coming Soon

I'm sad to say the Musical Garbage Can will be leaving GoTriad on or about March 23. It will go back to its original home at Blogspot here. Thank you for your continued support!
