For those of you who may have been wondering what the latest status of Greensboro's new music club is... well, it's getting closer.
The Flying anvil now has a Web site - www.theflyinganvil.com - and it has a schedule listing upcoming shows.
While there are a couple of shows booked for the end of April, it looks like the "Grand Opening" is scheduled for May 11 - 13.
So, who's playing?
A quick glance at the schedule may show some unfamiliar names - Mark Kozelek, Kylesa, Kind of Like Spitting.
However, they are pulling in someone a little more familiar.
Squirrel Nut Zipper fans may recognize "Maxwell/Mosher." The duo are former members of the retro-swing/jazz group and even cover a few of the Zippers' songs.
Hopefully, Greensboro-area residents will give the club a chance and get out and support live music.
The lineup may not compare with Ziggy's or Cat's Cradle at this point, but it's still early in the game. Give it time, and give it a chance.
Oh, and you may also want to go ahead and sign up for a membership - it's required at the club.
Greensboro is expecting big things from the new club.
So, please, Flying Anvil, don't let us down.
