Finally, some singers showed up for "American Idol."
The 12 women performed much better than the men. While it's anyone's gues which two men are leaving, the women's competition is a little tougher to pick.
For most of the last two nights, I've agreed with Simon.
Following is the rundown of my comments on each of the 12 female performers...
Stephanie Edwards kicked off the show with a confident performance that was reminiscent of Fantasia.
Amy Krebs was just ok. She hit a few bad notes and could be gone this week.
Leslie Hunt was relaxed, but she didn't have enough power for the song. She needs to do something more bluesy.
Sabrina Sloan had confidence and power in her vocals.
Antonella Barba was off key and tackled a song that didn't fit her voice at all.
Jordan Sparks had some odd reverb in her vocal. Her performance was ok - not great, not bad.
Nicole Tranquillo made some strange faces while she was singing. It was too urban - I just didn't like the song.
Haley Scarnato was too "Broadway." It was too old for her, and too much vibrato.
Melinda Doolittle was oversinging. She'll get to the next round, but it was just too much.
Alana Alexander was a little pitchy and gave an ok performance.
Gina Glockson sang well, but picked a song that was too old for her.
LaKisha Jones was oversinging. The judges loved her, but I thought it was a little too over-the-top.
While Chris Sligh is just about the only guy I'd be surprised to get eliminated, here's my thoughts on the bottom few girls...
Up for elimination - Amy Krebs, Antonella Barba, Nicole Tranquillo, Haley Scarnato and Alana Alexander.
