Well, they've been narrowed down to 24, as America's karaoke contest has gotten in full swing.

My thoughts: No one stands out. In previous years, you had the "ones to watch" - Fantasia, Chris Daughtry, Taylor Hicks. You knew they would be in the top 5, let alone the top 12 or 24.
This year, no one singer looks or sounds like the next Idol.
In fact, I was pretty surprised last night as I watched part of the show. Some people who hadn't sung well but were "marketable" were kept in, while others who had performed better were given the ax.
It just goes to show that it's a business.
It will be interesting to see how these next few months play out.
