It's winding down now. All that's left is Album of the Year, Rock Album of the Year and a performance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers perform "Snow (Hey Oh)." It's nice to see an old-school rock group that still around. It's stillodd to see them so toned down compared to the old days. There's a message on the speakers behind Flea, but I can't make out what it says. Confetti flying down around the theatre. The sign says "Love to Ornette Coleman." Coleman is one of the innovators of jazz.
Al Gore (?) and Queen Latifah are presenting the award for Rock Album of the Year. The winner is Red Hot Chili Peppers. I love that Chad Smith said, "Start a rock band. We need more rock bands!" I couldn't agree more.
Scarlett Johansen is recording an album? Oh please, as much as I like her as an actress, these Hollywood types need to stop getting into the music business. Ugh
Album of the Year - The Dixie Chicks. Wow - this was definitely their year for the Grammys.
In summary - there weren't too many awards. It was chock full of performances. I was surprised by the wins by the Dixie Chicks, but happy for them just the same. I expected a bigger tribute to James Brown. I think there was a good variety of winners and there weren't really any "lowlights" to the night.
