Twenty years later
We think Ian Perkins should be granted a pardon of forgiveness by Gov. Easley 20 years after he unwittingly aided Fritz Klenner in committing three "Bitter Blood" murders.

I believe that Ian Perkins should live the rest of his life in guilt. He knew that there were going to be murders, and should have done his own investigations about the CIA'S policies, etc. His gullibility, and plain ignorance murdered those 3 people. I believe that the judge went extrememly easy on him during his sentencing, therefore he should not be seeking apologies, but counting his blessings. I don't see the family victims of the Newsoms, or Tom Lynch for that matter asking for public apologies. If I were Tom Lynch...There would have been many lawsuits filed in this state against the police department and the SBI!! Ian Perkins, no matter how hard he tries to disguise it, is somewhat responsible for the death of the Newsoms, and John and Jim. I am horrified to know that there are people out there who would go on a killing spree because some man said, "HEY, I WORK FOR THE CIA, IM ALOUD TO KILL". I do have some sympathy for the man. I would be so humiliated that I would never show my face. How uncanny, that he would want to continue being in the spotlight. Ian Perkins does not deserve any apologies from any judge. Ian Perkins should for the rest of his life be thanking Tom Lynch for not pursuing him and taking the law into his own hands. I will never understand why the investigators used Ian to antagonize Fritz into his bound outrage knowing that those 2 kids still remained in that house. They should have grabbed him before he had a chance to put those kids in that vehicle. Ian will pay in his mind, when is the police department going to deliver Tom and Kathy lynch a public apology for not preventing the death of their kids? I am embarassed of my state and this crime will be one that haunts me for life. My life is in incapable hands. The police of NC need a refresher course on protection. It has been years since the tragedy and the story still burns my blood to this day!!

I just googled the name Ian Perkins and found this blog. I knew Ian many years ago. My mother dated his father back when we were in jr. high. My mom and his dad did not last but Ian stayed in touch with us for many years. I believe that Ian truly did not know what was going on that night. Ian was always a very sweet, naive, and bit nerdy kid. Was Ian ever pardoned? I sure hope so.

I don't find any notation about a pardon in his department of correction record.

The guy is obviously playing stupid. I was born in 1984, so I don't remember. My uncle was involved in the last chase as a state trooper. People like Ian are just as dangerous as Klemmer. In the past, I've known a few Ian's who were being led down some "righteous" path, all in the name of "protecting the constitution"(im not talkin about the military either). The fact is, people who are lonely inside and prone to paranoia, people who have an obsession with violence(im not anti gun) and guns, are dangerous and just plain weird. It's not a "gun culture", it's a paranoia culture and for alot of these militia people, its "the way", "god's way", "the way of our founding fathers", or the"way of freedom". A bunch of dangerous rhetoric, no consideration for the lives of anyone who isn't "for the constitution". I don't know for sure, but I'm going to research it, and I'll bet money that Fritz was not involved ever with the US military or law enforcement, but was definetely involved with "libertarian militias". I'm bookin on that one. And Ian was a paranoid gun and army obsessed kid(probably a fatkid), and Klemmer used him because he knew the kid would eat his rhetoric out of his hand. I know what it's like to think your part of some big thing, taking back whats yours blah blah blah, I got out, some never will, it's really sad.
