Alda wins debate
No contest: It was Alan Alda all over Jimmy Smits in "The West Wing" live presidential debate tonight.
Could that be what Hollywood intended?
Alda plays the Republican candidate, Smits the Democrat.

Not that I'm all that surprised, but dang it, Doug, I had recorded the episode because I'm usually putting my kids to bed at that hour, and I hadn't had a chance to watch it yet.

I'm normally not a West Wing watcher, but I caught some of the debate last night. I was really impressed with both actors - it was live and while it was scripted, they still had to do a lot of improvisation and thinking on their feet.

I thought both candidates got in an equal number of shots on the other, and I scored it pretty close to even, with perhaps a nod to Vinick for his gamble on the format.
