Presidential visit

President Bush is coming to Kernersville Monday to tout ... the economy and tax cuts?

Kernersville lies in the Heart of the Triad. It's close to the new Dell plant. And Dell has gotten some big tax breaks from the state.

Still, the location for the president's visit seems a bit odd, given the stated reason for his trip. The economy isn't really motoring around here just yet, and tax cuts aren't on the top of everyone's mind.

I'm not complaining. A presidential visit to the Triad is a good thing. You can be sure the White House will put our economy in the best possible light.

Details of his visit aren't out yet. We don't know how long Mr. Bush will be staying in our area. Maybe his schedule is flexible. So, how about suggestions?

What do you think he should do and talk about in the Triad?

You never know. The White House may be monitoring this blog for ideas.

I think Bush should head straight over to High Point, home of the High Schools lottery, and talk to some kids. Terry Grier should be there to welcome him and they could chit-chat about how Mr. Grier skirts NCLB--then they could go over to the now famous Andrews auditorium, discuss the abysmal crime rate at Andrews and Grier can explain his reasoning for pulling Title 1 funds from the school....then possibly lunch at the Emorywood Cafe. No trip would be complete without a drive down Southwest School Road. Hopefully the Holiday display is ready.

Bush should travel to Reidsville and proclaim to our citizens there all the positive effects his "booming" economy is having on their lives.

Tour Guide, are those clever kids on Southwest School Road hanging Bush in effigy now?

I would like to extend an Invitation to President and Mrs. Bush to attend the " Lighting of the Tree" ceremony, to be held across from Southwest Middle School on Monday Evening.

This will be the first year for this ceremony and we would like to offer an Invitation to all Rational Thinking (No OOPS Allowed)people who would like to kick-off the Christmas Season in Style.

The ceremonies will begin around 5 P.M. with the lighting of the Unity Fire Barrel,,,shortly after that we will proceed with the tapping of the Xmas Keg.

At 8 P.M. we shall light the Tree,,,which happens to have a "Holiday School Board" Theme.

We are still in need of Designated Drivers to provide transportation for our Carolers who will be singing Carols at the Homes of all of our School Board Members,,,,,,Departure time for this event will be around 9 P.M.(We are still looking for mr. griers' "Grandover" address,,,,for we would hate for him to miss out on the "Holiday Joy" which will be Spread).

Mr. President,,,It would be quite an Honor to tilt a Mug of Ale with you and Laura,,,,Its' been some time since we have been able to sit by the Fire Barrel together,,,,and we in High Point have some Communist/Socialist issues we would like to discuss with you also,,,,so PLEASE,, if there is any way possible to attend,,,we would be very appreciative.

Thank You and GOD BLESS AMERICA

Doug,

You're thinking in the wrong direction on the Holiday display. People in that area aren't "displaying" their unhappiness with President Bush. Oh, no. I bet you can guess who is being "hung", and it ain't mistletoe. A hint: It might be our highest-paid local government employee.

I have an idea for a Holiday display that I think would look great over there on Southwest School Road. Does anybody think they will mind if I make it and set it up near the tree?

They should bring him to GSO for lunch at Stamey's. Or Yum-Yum. Or both.
