Protest as community service

Former Guilford Superintendent Jerry Weast, now in Montgomery County, Md., is giving students community service credit for attending today's immigrant demonstration in Washington.

Read about it in the Washington Post.

Students there are on spring break, so they aren't cutting class. But, is this stretching the definition of community service? Seems so to me.

Doug! It appears that Maddog didn't give the whole show about class credit for student taking part in outside political activies. The Spokenperson for the School board a former Republican county chairman says the the board gives credit for all approve political rallies that meets state requirment. That means the demo party rallies, repub rallies, communist party rallies, alien lizard parties to return to the moon, [ I believe it has not been approve yet] save the monkies rallies, Save Jaws 2 and finally Save the Trees in Fairfax county Maryland. It is the law of the State of Maryland that all students do 60 hours of community service in order to recieve their high school degree and means observing the political systems of our country.
At the present rate the repubs and George Bush are going as a uniter not a divider, the chances are that the only State in the Union that will be safe for George and his repub friends in congress after November will be Alabama ....Go Tide or do they still have the nickname " The Red Elephants"
