For what it's worth, Durham police report 24 cases of forcible rape in the city this year, through March 17.
One case stands out.
But who's rallying on behalf of the other 23 victims?

That's interesting and arguably worth reporting, but is it germane to the present case? Does it mean that someone who has committed a crime is fair game to be victimized by others?

No, not at all Mr. Clark.
It is germane in that it shows the character of the "victim" and will be overwhelmingly important if this goes to a court trial.
Is she believable? Was she lying? Did she make this up for some reason? Can the jury rely on what she says? She is a criminal, after all, that spent time in jail.
Moral turpitude is important when you're the sole witness in a case that can ruin someone else's life and send them to prison for years and years.
I think the prosecutor would be insane to put her on the witness stand. And without her testimony, they have no case.

I agree, defense attorneys can make what they will of her background and credibility.
But there also may be medical evidence consistent with rape and possible DNA evidence. Also, the fact that she left personal items at the house tends to support her story.
Then, did anyone else in the house see three men pull her into the bathroom? If so, that would be strong testimony.
Everyone's watching closely to see how this develops. And, back to the point I made originally: No one's watching the 23 other rape cases.

Evidence means nothing without the witness, evidence does not stand on it's own. If the witness is not credible, the case falls on it's face.
Medical evidence can be interpreted many ways. Evidence of "rape" can also be evidence of consensual rough sex. It's possible that DNA from several "donors" mixed together won't point the finger at any one or all of them, I don't know that much about DNA evidence.
I'm sure there are many people looking at and investigating the other 23 rapes. Same as with rapes, robberies, etc., here in Guilford Co. Just because nobody makes a news story out of it doesn't mean it's forgotten.
I looked at that website you gave, it doesn't give the disposition of any cases. How many have arrests been made in? How many have been found to be made up stories? It just gives the number reported.

Answer your question. How much press as the NR given to the other cases? What happen to the hot dog DA, heard on radio last night, he may have spun so much he has hurt is own case. Also found out two ladies will dance for $75 plus tips, for two hours. This group was $800, things must cost more in Durham.Sounds like jaycee is right on target. The press also did not report her back ground.I old enough to remember when the newspaper printed the news, now they report their opinion.

Update: Looks as though we may have Tawana Brawley redux over at Duke. The DNA is in. Nifong is a Ronnie Earle ( Buffoon )

I am often embarrassed to be living in NC.
These things, of course, go on at colleges across the country, but making the national nightly news day after day, I begin to wonder if the "New South" is just the same old story wrapped in trendier packages.
