Are all the liberals blogging instead of listening to talk radio?

The conservative Media Research Center is trumpeting the slide of Air America, the liberal talk radio network.

I've never listened to Air America -- is it broadcast anywhere around here? -- so I don't have an opinion about its quality of lack of quality.

I wonder, though: If liberal talk radio is tanking, could the reason lie in the blogosphere? I mean, isn't that where all the liberals are?

According to their website there's a station in Chapel Hill, NC WCHL - AM. Not that many stations, vast majority are AM, for the radio voice of the Liberal wing of the Democratic Party and I don't believe their schedule list is all that accurate. It's offered on iTunes internet radio in order for us in the fly-over states can become enlightened.

It's more of a West coast & Northeastern radio thing doling out liberal viewpoints from people such as Al Franken and the actress whose name escapes me at this point. They just recently signed on the preacher of the NYC Riverside Church to inspire the masses.

It was to be the answer to conservative talk radio but has never caught the vibe. Had a controversial beginning when one of the local Boy Scout (you got me but it's true) chapters in NYC illegally gave 100s of thousands of dollars to get it on the air. AA had to repay the entire amount. Also, bounced employee checks at the beginning.

When your prime target audience in NYC won't tune in, then it's time to start packing.

Liberal talk radio on a national scale never has caught on even prior to blogging.

I used to listen to it over the Internet, but I can only take so much obnoxiousness no matter what the politics (mine are extremely liberal).

Doug, Dan Rather will be starting a new talk radio show on AM radio, the same radio that most liberals consider the sewer of radio because conservatives have made such good use of it, within the next couple of weeks. I wish him well. He did an interview with O'Reilly last night on how the media especially TV can slant the news without saying a word. Just show pictures, over and over and over. He knows since he was king of that domain. He even said so last night himself. He stated that while a picture is worth a thousand words and CAN tell a story, it never tells the entire story. There is always a story in what is not being seen. I found that very interesting coming from the man who built his fame and fortune around doing that very thing. Perhaps Dan has learned some things in the last few years and is now willing to be forthright in his telling the news story. Could this be the beginning of credible liberal radio? I hope so. Good Luck Dan!

Granted the camera DOES lie...often by ommission, depending on what it doesn't include; or who dictates what it reveals and how often the images are repeated. Just as there is always a story in what is not said, not researched, and in they way what is said is said: couching it in code terms; baiting would-be respondents with rhetorical traps; generally telling a preferred version. At least if the cameras are rolling, sometimes even their mere presence will help keep people more honest.

Of course, then there are those like the Abu Graib bunch who are proud to snap pictures and smile for the birdie.
