Will anyone ride this bus?
I'm far from convinced that this makes sense, but I'm willing to listen to arguments.
The Triad-to-Boone bus route has failed commercially. It has failed in previous public transportation efforts.
Is this a service without a market? How much taxpayer money has to be spent trying to find out, again, that the demand can't justify the cost?
OK, there are a lot of Appalachian State students from the Triad. But most college students who want to save money on gas are going to pile -- four, five or six of them -- into a car and go, not wait for a slow bus ride.
Anyway, that's my opinion. I'd like to hear yours -- especially if you might use this service.

Don't let Grier see this. He might find a way to force the High Point kids to take the long bus ride to ASU.

Doug, how about buses running from the Triad to not only Boone but to schools in Davidson and Forsythe counties. Unlike above, these buses are guaranteed to be filled.
Informal neighborhood polls from north High Point show only 10% of children "re-assigned" to another school either presented to or elected to say past three days at their "new" school.
Imagine being thrown out of your school and being forced to go to private, to another county or to home school, just because of the mental illness of essentially one influential person.
It would be interesting to get final stats on this, but, even though we have a highly paid stat man, this actually useful statistic will never be calculated by GCS since it would show the absolute folly of what's happened to a degree way beyond spinning, and they know it. Unless of course we had reporters who would ask the question, (fat chance, huh?).
The most sad thing about it is in the end, nobody, certainly not GCS or apparently any governing body, really cares. So you've alienated hundreds of citizens, they will be replaced by all the building going on in north High Point. The ones that choose to stay but send their kids to private, out of county, or home school are still going to be paying GCS thier tax dollars to NOT educate their kids-sort of like the Fed not paying farmers to grow crops. They are just an unfortunate group of people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people in power. The bitterly contested perpetual re- shuffling of High Point children has never or will never help any school in any way. High Point gets another PR disaster.
