Look out, I'll be sliding right at you
If you're smart, you'll stay home tomorrow and keep out of my way.
Update, 8:20 a.m. Thursday:
No school buses out there, and less traffic than normal overall. In contrast to a couple of weeks ago, I didn't see any accidents on my way from High Point to Greensboro today.
The city has done a good job of salting streets. But I don't know how long those streets will stay reasonably clear if the rate of precipitation increases over the next few hours. Conditions probably will be a lot worse going home.
Most drivers in my vicinity were proceeding with care and skill. It bothers me, though, that some truckers on I-85 weren't slowing down much. I know they have schedules to keep, but I'd rather not be smashed by an 18-wheeler.
At the same time, some drivers poke along much slower than necessary. It's not safe when the rest of us have to constantly tap our brakes so we don't run into the car ahead that's going 25 when 35 is appropriate.
Basically, my rule is that everyone should go at my speed -- no slower and no faster.
And please don't be out there when I head for home later, whenever that may be. I won't be able to guarantee your safety.
Update, 10:30 a.m.:
Looks like our winter storm has fizzled out for now. The forecasts early today led me to believe we'd have a couple of inches of snow by now. Is there still freezing rain coming later?
Just goes to show that sometimes you can't predict the weather from one hour to the next (except for climate scientists who know what's going to happen over the next 100 years.)

Watch out for those Guilford County school buses!
