Does Al Gore has a stake in this?* Ed

And these same people are the ones that laid money on the Bears that they would beat Archie Manning little boy by 49 points in the Super Bowl.

You got that right! The Maytag repair man has been call out of retirement and now selling Electrial Ice Boxes to hugh groups of Penquins from the South Pole like hot cakes. I am totaly convince that Al Gore has money in the Sc Fi channel.
There are two things that is assure in the State Liberal mind set and the establishment mainstream media and the Conservative Religious talk show radio and Foxx news movement.
Harry Potter will save the Polar Ice caps from the evil tribes of SUV's and be elected as the first Liberal party President of the world on a broom. The Capital will be move to Greenland and the name of the New politcal Order be the Green Party.
Jesus will not return but will send his second in charge of the Kingdom Gates Peter, and simply presented a invoice to Harry Potter for his damages done to the planet with his fly by broom that didn't pass a recent state emission test and law using the straw man myth fuel of Liberalism.
Don Imus will replace all conservative radio talk hosts from a untouchable Radio system in outer space known as the "Jesus and Howard Stern Kingdom Network" and have the only key to heaven which will bring about panic in the Liberal religious community. Howard Stern will make billions with a slick method for the Liberals to enter the kingdom on a tourist visa only ticket.
The Rev Pat Robertson of the Christian 700 club network will be found guilty for rigging the Gover of New Jersey SUV without no seat belts last thursday, when the Gov was rushing for a important judgement ethical meeting with Don Imus and the Rutgers' women's basketball players. Roberstson failed legal defense in the case was base on the the past NJ Gov who did not use seat belts when engaged in important state matters with his chief security guard in the front seat.
Who said Soap TV's Shows would fade into the 21 st century of establishment Liberal mainstream insanity?

I think snow in many areas this late in the year has stolen a bit of thunder from AlGore's "The Earth is on fire!!" program.

Yes! I agree and it has snow every day at the South and North Pole for 365 days in a row. And believe it or not, It has snow everyday on a chain of Volcano mountians over 10,000 ft above sea level in Latin America.

Short-term weather patterns don't tell us much. Although Al was citing the warm January weather as "proof" of global warming. It wasn't. You have to look at long-term trends. There is a gradual warming trend. Gradual, as in don't abandon Manhattan just yet.

A global warming adovocate recently tried to exlain to me how global warming is, indeed, responsible for all of this frigid weather in April. I didn't understand it and can't repeat what they said, but they fully believe that global warming is the culprit. So, it seems that global warming is the cause of extreme hot in the summer and extreme cold in teh winter. Imagine. I think that I'll go buy some carbon credits, and I'll feel better about the whole thing.

The advocates of extreme global warming can't lose the debate. If it becomes exceedingly warm, they'll say they were right. If it doesn't, they'll say they were right but managed to stop it in time.

On April 10, the N&R carried a story about the Charlotte area losing out on a Toyota plant because of the area's air quality problems. And stories the month before described how NC has the second highest level of power plant and heavy industry air pollution in the country. Clearly, more hysteria.

If that being is the case, don't you think it would be a great deal to buy real estate in Manhattan after it is abandon next week with 24 dollars in beads and odd color Turkey feathers from Donald Trump?

Dave, that was Davidson County, that center of industrial pollution.
The story didn't say Davidson County did lose out on the Toyota plant because of air pollution. It cited that as one of three reasons that could affect the decision.
At any rate, are you saying it's NOT an example of hysteria to believe Manhattan will be submerged within the next five years?

Doug:
The article you linked to indicated that ONE person had placed a 1-in-100 bet that Manhattan would be under water by 2012 (somehow this got changed to "people" in your write-up). One person making one irrational bet is not evidence of hysteria. The article also listed bets going the other way, including one that scientists would shortly solve the underlying problems associated with global warming leading to a new ice age. The article focused on silly bets; these were hardly evidence of hysteria.
The article from the N&R indicated the pollution blowing in from Charlotte was a culprit in the Toyota plant decision. The last paragraph in the article mentioned unionization at two other plants as a potential concern. The N&R article did not list a third concern.

The third factor listed was the fact that Davidson County had not fully assembled the site.
The story was based on a consultant's report presented to the state last year. Toyota announced its decision in February of this year and did not say why it did not select Davidson County. This is all speculation.
The offer of odds on silly events like the submersion of Manhattan in five years (just one example among several mentioned in the story) is evidence that someone's trying to make money from global warming hysteria.

Doug:
Down the slippery slope we go--from "someone making money from global warming hysteria" to "someone trying to make money..." Just as one person's ill-advised 1-in-100 bet became "people betting." It seems like you could teach Al a thing or two about exaggeration. Next you'll be explaining what the meaning of "is" is.
The critiques of the N&R article should be taken up with the reporter and editor. The headline on the article was "Pollution Plays Role in Choice by Toyota." The other factors that you are citing are buried deep in the article. The first two-thirds concern the pollution aspect. Other than their placement in the article, no weighting is assigned to the various concerns.
