Big Four mismatch in Winston-Salem
My son, Kenny, a Wake Forest grad, invited me to today's Big Four showdown with North Carolina.
I enjoyed hanging out with Kenny and his friends, but watching the game itself was painful for this Tar Heel fan. The team from Chapel Hill didn't put up much of a fight. Wake's 37-10 smackdown marked its seventh-consecutive Big Four win, going back to 2004. The Deacons take a commanding lead in 2007 Big Four standings:
Wake, 2-0
State, 0-0
Carolina, 0-1
Duke, 0-1
I'll update my Tarheel Top Ten tomorrow. Needless to say, Wake Forest will retain its No. 1 ranking. How far will No. 6 Carolina fall?
Update, Oct. 28, Tarheel Top Ten:
Elon, Appalachian, ECU and State solidify their 2-5 positions with victories. Catawba defeats Wingate. Winston-Salem State adds a win but Central is pounded by Western Kentucky.
1. Wake Forest, 6-2 (No. 1 last week)
2. Elon, 6-2 (2)
3. Appalachian State, 6-2 (3)
4. N.C. State, 3-5 (4)
5. East Carolina, 5-4 (5)
6. Catawba, 8-1 (7)
7. Winston-Salem State, 5-3 (9)
8. UNC, 2-6 (6)
9. N.C. Central, 6-3 (8)
10. Wingate, 6-3 (10)

How far will No. 6 Carolina fall?* Doug
To the bottom in the Yankee leaque with Army. In fact the rumor on the streets is that Butch Davis is looking at the Texas Longhorns since the other former Carolina coach just might get the boot this year.

If Texas was looking at the Carolina-Wake game yesterday, I don't think Butch Davis will be getting any job offers from Austin.

You got that right! UT football program is starting to look like the Republican presidental race, they have no idea what a winner is. No doubt Butch is playing it cool since he neither denying or confirming the rumor that he is looking. Truely a sign of a political coach....

This is off-topic, Doug, but I didn't know where else to post it. But I would like to suggest a new thread discussing the Lou Dobbs-Gov. Spitzer dispute over illegal aliens getting New York driver's licenses. Mr. Dobbs has made this national news on his CNN show.
Personally, I think Mr. Dobbs is completely right on this one. Illegal aliens should not be issued driver's licenses and it's absurd that New York is going to grant them than privilege.
