Appalachian State returns to the No. 1 spot in my Tarheel Top Ten after a massive 79-35 pasting of Western Carolina, as Wake Forest loses at Clemson.* Doug

Wait a minute Doug! Wake gets plaster 44- to 10 by the Tigers at Death Valley and they are still 2 nd on your poll? In fact, The Southern Baptist Churches of South Carolina issue funeral arrangments for Wake Forest and said the Wake Forest team was a offically buried at the south end zone of Death Valley after the game. The President of the South Carolina Southern Baptist association said that this outrageous beating of a North Carolina Baptist team clearly shows what happens when a Baptist School uses the Devil name as their team mascot....."Demon Deacons"

I have to agree with the President of the Association since it appears that the Baptists of North Carolina are clearly falling away with their faith as predicted in the end times, with their QB being sacked 10 times in that game....

Wake still deserves the No. 2 position. Clemson also whipped State badly, and that was it Raleigh. Also, Wake destroyed the Tar Heels while State barely held on to edge Carolina. If State is better than Wake, it will have to prove it Saturday. But I favor Wake in that one.

If the Tarheels lose to Dook, will you be dropping them out of your final poll?

Doug said:

That would be very damaging to Carolina's ranking.

On the other hand, if I drop a team out of the Top Ten, I have to find one to add. Gardner-Webb fell out this week after losing at Coastal Carolina, allowing Wingate to return. I thought about Shaw, which is 8-3 and the CIAA champ, but its level of competition is really low.

Davidson still gets some consideration.

Then again, if Duke beats Notre Dame and Carolina, Duke could move into the Top Ten.

The competition just isn't that stiff.

If the Tarheels lose to Dook, will you be dropping them out of your final poll?* Kenny

If that happens, I am sure Doug will drop Carolina from any poll here for forever.....

It appears that Clemson is about to seize the ACC title. However, Good news and bad news is coming this week from South Carolina and the Big Thurday game which settles the bragging rights in South Carolina.

Clemson’s mascot burn canceled due to N.C. fire

Clemson University will change an annual tradition before its game against USC next week.

The school’s annual “Big Thursday” event traditionally ends with the burning of the University of South Carolina mascot, Cocky. That will not take place in light of the N.C. beach house tragedy that led to the deaths of seven college students, one from Clemson and six from USC.

In place of “Big Thursday,” the school will hold “Fowl Fest” at 7 p.m. Thursday on the lawn of the school president’s home. The fest will consist with buckets of KFC being toss at the President Home to prove that dead chickens can fly and shot down by the military ROTC unit from Clemson students

USC is unsure about its annual “Tiger Burn” event, scheduled for next week outside the Colonial Center, according to school officials. A decision will be made later this week after a real Tiger is kidnapped from the Atlanta Zoo.

Doug said:

It's a good idea to douse that tradition.

Does Wofford get the winner?

Sensei said:

Elon could totally wipe the floor with Catawba, even with their subpar performance over the last two weeks.

Aside from that, the rankings look just about spot-on. It's pretty amazing that a Div. 1-AA team is the best in the state!

Doug said:

Catawba just beat Lenoir-Rhyne 45-0 compared to 48-7 for App earlier in the season.
