McCain blew it
There was nothing "excellent" or funny about the rude question, referring to Hillary Clinton, put to John McCain the other night. He should have said so.
The right answer would have been:
"I respect Sen. Clinton as a colleague, and it's completely inappropriate to refer to her as you just did. I disagree with her on the issues, but I'm not going to tolerate name-calling in this campaign."
By the way, anyone remember when Barbara Bush referred to Geraldine Ferraro in a similar way? The believe the term she used was "rhymes with rich."
Yep. Here's a reference.

Good Grief! I don't even remember who Geraldine Ferraro was, much less Barbara Bush retarded Son, George the 2nd. Wasn't Geraldine in that Mafia TV Ad about " Where's the Beef Bodies were buried"
Surely you haven't forgot where this witch stuff started? Don't you remember after the failed republicn revolution of 04 that Connie Chung trick Newt Gringrich Mom into saying that Hillary was the wicked witch of the East Wing of the Whitewater?

Doug C.:
There's a lot to admire about Sen. McCain, but you're right that he should have called out the questioner on this one.
Howard Kurtz has had a couple of good columns pointing out Sen. McCain's "high road" hypocrisy where he promises to maintain a positive campaign and then lets his campaign manager slime his Republican and Democratic opponents.
The only saving grace here was that Sen. McCain himself did not address Sen. Clinton this way but instead commented on somebody else's question. It's not a sterling moment for Sen. McCain but also not the end of his campaign.
To Connie and Doug J.:
You only belittle and marginalize yourselves when you use the language that you do or condone this language by others.

Doug J, I'm afraid you're right that a lot of Americans are rude and disrespectful enough to apply that term to Sen. Clinton. We've become that sort of society.
If she's elected, however, she'll have earned the title, Madame President.

And who are we being marginalize by Dave? I am sure General Patton would have you peeling language potatos for being a sissy, who didn't want to go to the front where the action was. It appears that you have never been in a professional football locker room at halftime listing to the Coach motvation language speech?
Maybe you should join up with the Marines and go though a basic training language course. You will be suprise how fast you can spit shine a pair of boots with a DI refering to your Mother's single gender.
I guess you forgot what George Bush said in 05 about " That "GD" Constitution keeps getting in the way"
