How much restitution or community service could make up for the destruction of Greensboro College's nativity scene?
To my ear, Dan Fogelberg's best work came from his collaborations with jazz flutist Tim Weisberg.
This should be the headline: "Multimillionaire former hedge fund consultant attacks corporate greed"

Doug,
Here's my suggestions for Mr. Feeley:
100% restitution for actual damages.
Minimum 1,000 hours community service at homeless shelter, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels.
A criminal record.
The sad part of this is, as Ron White so aptly puts it, "You can't fix stupid."
Merry Christmas.

Good suggestions, MD.
A big problem with 100 percent restitution in this case is the high value of the nativity scene, tens of thousands of dollars.
I spoke with Assistant DA Howard Neumann, who said the charge is a Class 1 misdemeanor. Assuming no prior offenses, the maximum penalty would be 45 days in jail, which must be suspended. It can be suspended on condition of paying restitution. But suppose the amount stipulated is $100,000. The defendent could choose to serve the 45 days rather than pay. Forty-five days or $100,000? Pretty easy decision. The court can't make you pay AND serve the time, Neumann said.
In addition to whatever happens in court, UNCG has internal proceedings in accordance with its code of student conduct. These are confidential, but restitution and community service could be outcomes. The university could make restitution a condition of continued enrollment.
I'm writing an edit on this for tomorrow.

Naw! The headline should be? How in the heck did the Ron Paul revolution campaign raise 6.5 million Federal Reserve Notes yesterday from 54,000 small donors?
It appears that John Boy miss his last Bliderburg memo on what he is doing wrong.
