Catching up
So, anything much happen 'round here while I was gone?
It snowed? Honestly, I'm not sorry I missed it.
I attended the Duke-Wake Forest game at Joel Coliseum last night. What a great experience. Super home crowd propelled the Deacons to a terrific effort. Early on, fans were getting on the refs for supposedly favoring Duke. By the end of the game, they were joyously waving goodbye to alll five Duke starters, who fouled out one after the other. "Those refs are going to be in trouble," a member of my group commented. What about it? Will the ACC punish officials for calling a tight game against Coach K's crew?
If spaying/neutering a pet is too expensive for the average family, as stated by an activist in our story today, should the average family have a pet? There are lots of other expenses required for properly caring for an animal. My dog costs about as much as my kids did, except it's not going to wreck any cars or go to college.

Yes and no doubt it will happen! I have every reason to suspect that those officials will be shipped to the Fayetteville minor leaque. You just don't with mess Texas and Coach K? And by the way Doug! Stop sitting with the Church ladies at a Wake Forest home game.

JR, I was on strike to express solidarity with my brother and sister scribes in Hollywood, but lack of concern about my absence caused me to rethink my position.
Although I think Connie missed me.

Just kidding, DC. I could tell by Allen's level of stress that you were MIA.

Gee....Doug....(sniff...snivel...) What am I , chopped liver? I kind of missed you too.
Allen kind of stood and delivered, even with the occasional display of humanity.
Let's see, what else did you miss? Oh, Dot was quoted in the Rhino when asked what she would desire in a new school superintendant and she said she didn't quite know how to say it, but she wanted someone who believed in "integration". Of course, school segregation was outlawed in the mid 1950s(although did not really get to High Point until the mid sixties when Dot quickly moved her brood out of the Andrews school district). Dot also said she thinks John Kennedy has a real good chance of defeating Richard Nixon in this fall's election.
It's probably just like you've never been away, huh?

Thanks, Amy. Dr. Savage, it just wasn't a vacation without you.

I think we now have unequivocal evidence that we are indeed in an economic recession if not outright depression after reading the blurb about the guy in Madison who stabbed somebody with a makeshift spear (knife lashed to stick). Kind of makes one nostalgic for the good ol' days when people could afford real pre-manufactured spears.
Somebody please get the guy a real spear for crying out loud. Maybe with his tax rebate he can get a real one.

I sure did? In fact I made arrangements with the Dog and Pony Show Bonding Company in Charlotte for your bail should your name appear in the Charlotte Madame X Book in the recent dial a escort for political purposes only service.
