Don Vaughan vs. Joe Wilson

That's an interesting matchup.

Joe Wilson filed today for the state Senate seat currently held by Kay Hagan.

Don Vaughan was already in the books.

Wilson made a good showing in the District 3 Greensboro City Council race last fall. He's running as a Republican in the legislative contest.

Vaughan was a long-time member of the council. He's a Democrat.

Unless someone else jumps in before tomorrow's deadline, these two will represent their parties in the general election without a primary. It ought to be fun.

The district favors a Democrat, and Vaughan has lots of political experience and Raleigh connections. I'd guess he can raise more money.

But Wilson's plenty scrappy.

Go for it, guys.

Joe, I smiled when I saw your name on the candidate list.

You helped make gangs a big issue in the city race last fall. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about the gangs in the legislative building.

Don Vaughan belongs in this seat, nobody will defeat him, put your money away! The cat will not leave this bag.

Joe: although I can't vote for you because I'm in the 26th NC Senate district, I'll be happy to support you in your campaign.

Doug: remember, these even-numbered year election issues do not correspond directly with those from the "non-partisan" municipal races of late.

Nevertheless, one could make an excellent argument for cleaning up the (Jones) street by throwing all those gang members in jail.....
