Easley's credibility gap

The Charlotte Observer's Jack Betts writes that Mike Easley created his own problems with the media a long time ago.

The bottom line of Jack's hard-hitting column:

"Easley's hopes of improving his administration's credibility, as welcome as it is here in the last nine months of his administration, must start with a candid recognition that his office doesn't have that much credibility to improve."

Meanwhile, The News & Obserer of Raleigh reports on Easley's recent troubles and his "quirky" style of governing.

The lead: "Gov. Mike Easley's printed schedule is full of empty days."

My question for voters: Which gubernatorial candidates represent the best chance of restoring credibility -- and leadership -- to the executive branch of state government?

My question for voters: Which gubernatorial candidates represent the best chance of restoring credibility -- and leadership -- to the executive branch of state government?* Doug

None of the above in both parties! What makes you think they have credibilty to start with?

Leadership is a natural born thing when chaos reigns in, sports, politics and war. No doubt the present group of candiates couldn't lead a band of ants to a sugar cane field.

Look on the bright side Doug! Governor Easley will no longer have political access to race cars to wreck!

Connie, I'm asking for opinions on which candidate offers the best chance to restore leadership and credibility. None of the crop of contenders may be perfect but neither can they all be equally hopeless.

Fred Smith, I always take a business person, over lawyers. After a hundred years of liberal screw ups in Raleigh, we have nothing to lose.

Bob Orr looks like he's the most committed to this issue ( http://www.orr2008.com/Issues/HonGovrn/Honest.html ).

Doug J:

Fred Smith IS a lawyer.

Doug! Why you think the state of Nevada a few years back try a little trick on their state ballots. The put "None of the Above" on each race. To the shocked Pols and political parties, " None of the Above" was winning in 70% of the races. At the next election cycle. The State change the ballot process and said that " None of the above" had to be written in for future political races. I agree about the present crop of contenders not being perfect. The only perfect candiate that I think of is Jesus. However, last week, he was rule off the ballot in Nevada, when a local devil worshiper demanded the same ballot access claiming his candiate " Satan" was perfect until God kick him out of heaven and Nevada.

I can only assume that your candiates must belong to the " devil worshipering party" since perfection is a clear cut of example of limited ballot postion.

Equally hopeless sounds better Doug! However some of the present candiates are running TV ads showing them walking on water and feeding millions of homeless children with a Can of Tuna fish.

Think of the candiates this way Doug! The Republican candiates are promising to get rid of my Mexican lawn boy because he is a secret muslin terrorist without a driver licence, and the Democrats are promising to care for my Grandson because I kept leaving him behind on the weekends.

Doug Johnson said:

He also started his on business. Bob Orr, another one of them good ole boys. Connie, we would not have to worry about the Mexican with drivers permits, had Easley not passed them out in cereal boxes. Also Dave, I doubt that Smith can win, the liberal press hates him. Of course they hate all republicans. They like all them good ole boys, that have made this state would it is CORRUPT.
