Council pay raises: Let the people decide
I've got a suggestion about any proposals to raise pay for Greensboro's mayor and City Council members:
Put them to an advisory vote on the November ballot.

Unfortunately, we get what we pay for....
Because we have a City Manager (weak) and even weaker City Council, we have a problem. Paying the city council more will not solve the problem. There will be a point in the near future that citizens of higher quality will step forward and provide the leadership we so disparately lack.

Good idea! Chances are that the public will say " Hell No" with the present decline of the dollar and the econ system falling apart faster than a rotten Tomato. Or you can demand like your journalist Liberal establishment buddy Ed Cone that a major leaque city needs another government full high paying salary leader like a Mayor. At the moment their are 4 major full-time major leaque Mayors under indictment and 3 serving time in federal dentention centers. Example, Atlanta's former Mayor Billy Campbell. In San Diego alone, They have gone though 3 corrupt mayors in the past two years and 6 city council members. The more you pay the full-time mayors or council members, the more corruption grows and a entrench political system is harder to defeat at the polls.
Of Course Mr Cone's has a fuzzy historial view of past full time big leaque Mayors and City Hall politics in American history. Does the name " Boss Tweed" ring a Bell? Or the present Mayor of Chicago?

How about instead of a pay raise , a little ethics on the Greensboro City Council. For example , if a person has given to your campaign and has a zoning case before the Greensboro City Council, then every Greensboro City Council member must recuse themselves from the zoning case if they received campaign contributions from the applicant andtheir Zoning Stud Lawyer. You can also add any Political Action Committee whose sole purpose is to give money to Greensboro City Council members and 1 Guilford County Commissioner, ie North Carolinians for Leadership in Government.

Is this why you came back Robbie? You already propose tax increases and now YOU want a raise. You say the Mayor and council are underpaid. You and all the council knew what the pay was before you ran. I guess with real estate a little slow, you feel you can just vote yourself an income supplement.
Well, put it on the ballot and let's see if you get more than 9 votes!!
