Tyson Gay ... faster than a lion?
Tyson Gay scorched 100 meters in 9.68 seconds at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field trials today.
The time won't count as a world record because he had too much wind at his back, but the NBC TV announcers declared the feat to be the fastest a human being has ever run the distance (from the starting line).
I'd shy away from a claim that can't be verified. Just think of some poor guy out on the Serengeti ... hungry lion shows up ... runs for his life ... first hundred meters 9 seconds flat ...
... but still not fast enough.
The Olympic trials are do or die, but only in a manner of speaking.
