" ... we don't need me in Washington."
Republican 11th District congressional candidate Carl Mumpower suspends his campaign:
"Job one for me is to get my party back to its principles. Without that foundation, we don't need me in Washington."
Wouldn't it be great if more congressional candidates took the same stand?
I admit I'm surprised, though. I thought any politician who'd march in the Coon Dog Day parade in Saluda was a serious contender.

It appears that Mr Mumpower needs to change parties and his name while he is at it! I just hate whinners who can't make up their mind!
We just might be looking at the Forest Gump of the Republican party.

Strategy must be a part of any political campaign. Carl Mumpower knows unequivocally that he must have the enthusiastic support of every Republican in the 11th. Cong. District to be elected. That is exactly what he was about today.
Carl is challenging the Republican Party to be committed to it's stated principles.
He is not seeking power. He is seeking to wake up the GOP to the tremendous task ahead to win this important race to the US Congress, where he
will be an unbelievable servant of the people.
Carl also knows that he must have the support of
independents and conservative democrats. It is
my opinion that he will attract many of them as
they hear him and listen. They will be reminded
of the great statesmen who have gone before and
can be again. May I quote: "A government big
enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have." Thomas
Jefferson. Zora Reece Hays, Buncombe County,

We are well on our way to reaping the results
of growing governmental power and unbelievable
taxation. It will take alot of principled candidates
like Carl Mumpower, but he is certainly an
encouraging sign.

Zora, could you repeat that? I'm not sure I'm getting it.
Thanks

Perhaps Mr. Mumpower should have shared some of these principles with Republican voters BEFORE the primary.
Ms. Hayes:
Words like "unequivocal" and "committed" don't seem appropriate in describing Mr. Mumpower's about-face in running for office.
