Got to be satire
Letter writer Susie Barnes is already getting hammered on the blog, but the criticism is undeserved if she was taking a stab at satire.
I don't think she can be seriously suggesting that, given the chance, nurses would harm Charles Davenport because he wrote a critical column about his experience in the hospital.
And then saying he owes health-care professionals an apology.
Nothing could ever be more insulting to health-care professionals than to imply they would intentionally do harm to a patient for any reason, let alone a reason so petty.
Her real point here may be that Davenport's complaints were too petty to write a column around, that he was overreacting. So she's intentionally overreacted to his overreaction, taking the discussion to an absurd conclusion.
You can't read her letter literally. It's got to be satire.

I did read her letter, sounded like a direct threat to me. If I was Davenport, I be hollering for her head. We all say things we regret.
This is just plain stupid. Sounds like to me she owes the entire medical profession a apology.

Most likely she just got done with several days of double shifts or has been doing swing shifts too long.

The other possibility is the nurse is a radical leftist.
Speaking of which, it's good to see Rosemary Roberts may soon be able to go on home to Cuba after all these years. I'm sure she misses those days , back in the fifties, when she roamed the sierra with Fidel and Che' fighting Los Batistas.
I also would have loved to be a fly on the wall when she she "argued with a Cuban vehemently against communism."

When it comes to satire, my friend, you are second to none.

Oh, I don't know Doug. Robinson's pretty good. He's over on his blog mixing up with fellas from A&T, saying when it comes to taxpayer institutions; he 's a stickler for "transparency". I remember him taking Mitch to task over the Wray affair many times.

Doug, what did you think about Tebow last pm. ?More specifically about the John 3:16 across his cheekbones? I've recited John 3;16 probably ten thousand times in my life, but I'm no big fan of people who wear their religion on their sleeve. But in these days of PC dogmatism to see somebody do this was kind of refreshing. He certainly brought down the wrath of God on the Sooners.
One expects that religious guys should maybe be more meek etc. but Tebow was no doubt the most intense, possessed, craziest guy and on field. There's something about a guy who's kind of insane though, even if only for sixty minutes, with scripture across his face that is kind of discomfiting, I mean, come on, it's just football.
If I was an Islamic guy maybe, or say practiced VooDoo like my wife, maybe I'd be even more discomfited.
What do you think?

I like and respect Tim Tebow. I like his John 3:16 eye black. From what I understand, he lives his faith every day, even on the football field. It's genuine.
I liked his response to the Oklahoma player's remark that Tebow would be only the fourth-best QB in the Big 12. He took it as a compliment ...
then he outplayed the best QB in the Big 12.
Tebow is a modern Eric Liddell. I imagine when he plays football, he feels God's pleasure.

The last guy who simply took over the BCS championship game with a Herculean effort, aka Vince Young, is now in the looney bin, so hopefully that is not a trend.

I'm considering atheism due to Tebow. But then, I'm a UGa fan, and I was glad to see the "Big" 12 juggernaut get predictably manhandled by an SEC team.
OK, Doug, you've got me: are you being satirical? I can't think the letter was anything but an unprofessional rant, and I can't tell whether you agree and are satirically offering the satirical angle, or are straightforwardly and unironically doing so.

Thanks, b. However you want to read it.

I had no idea that God was into pleasure. From all historial reports that I have seen about the Christian-Jewish God, He is one mean dude when it comes to payback to the Pagans and Gays in his coliseum.
I can't wait until the day comes in professional and university sports when the hero of the game points his finger downward and gives praise to the Devil. Do you think Fox sports will show that event to the sports public?
