Sorry spectacle
Elizabeth Edwards' interview with Oprah will boost sales of her new book, but that's not a very good reason to lay out details about her relationship with her unfaithful husband on national TV.
I expect it will be painful to watch ... but millions will endure it.
Note: Oprah advances the interview.
Interesting reading: A tough commentary by Lee Stranahan at huffingtonpost.com.
Addendum: Kevin Siers' cartoon.

What really disgusts me is how the mainstream media, still eyes-wide and agog over The New John F. Kennedy-The Breck Girl John Edwards, will attack and demean his faithful spouse, Elizabeth Edwards.
Never let truth stand in the way of the media when it comes to protecting a liberal politician, even if it means destroying his terminally ill wife.

jaycee, which msm are still "agog" over John Edwards?

Um, yeah, and which MSM are attacking Elizabeth Edwards?
The answer to both Doug's question and mine is none. John Edwards is toast and everyone knows it. And we all feel sorry (quite rightly, and for multiple reasons) for Elizabeth. It appears that jaycee is inhabiting another dimension... the tonymo dimension (gasp!).

I just realized that jaycee might have been referring to the HuffPost article by Stranahan. It's pretty sensible but it is indeed a bit negative about Elizabeth. However, finding one blogger who "attacks" Elizabeth Edwards is hardly evidence of anything related to the MSM.
But if jaycee's right, then this very blog comment is further evidence. Didn't I just say something a little negative about Elizabeth Edwards? Yes, I said that Stranahan's article is "sensible." The MSM strikes again!

I'm guilty, too, for linking to the Stranahan piece and also questioning why EE would appear on Oprah other than to sell books.
Andrew, any comment on my post yesterday about Linda Brady's remarks?
Your take on the "global university" goals would be of interest.

People should be hard on Elizabeth Edwards. She dishonestly perpetuated a lie because it was convenient. Now that the truth is more convenient, she's become truthier. Yes, I know she has cancer.
Doug, UNCG has been "connecting the Piedmont to the world" for a decade and a half, if the university's mission statement is correct. The "global" thing is adminstrative boilerplate: don't be confused into thinking it means anything special. Here's a translation of the bulleted points of Brady's speech:
First, UNCG will foster access to education and student success through outreach, support and the creation of sustainable learning environments for all persons, particularly citizens of North Carolina from underserved regions and from underrepresented populations.
"Online courses rock!"
• Second, UNCG will foster health and wellness across the lifespan by enhancing and extending health, wellness and quality of life for children, adults, families, and communities through research, workforce development, the reduction of disparities in access to healthcare and healthy lifestyles, sustainability efforts and recreational opportunities.
"More jumping jacks, fewer smokes for our students."
• Third, UNCG will foster leadership
development by offering transformational undergraduate, professional and graduate programs and educational experiences that develop integrative thinking and transferable skills for life, civic participation and work in a global society.
Meaning unknown.
• Fourth, UNCG will become a catalyst for economic transformation, cultural expression and community development to benefit the residents of Greensboro, the Piedmont region, the State of North Carolina and beyond.
"Hopefully, we'll find ways to make and attract money."
• Finally, UNCG will become a global university where students, faculty and the community engage the problems of our times in a global context informed by international and intercultural experiences and perspectives.
"More study abroad and courses with non-western foci."

Thanks for the translation. It's a lot easier to understand the way you explain it.
Regarding EE, I do think she should have blown John's campaign right out of the water.

I am not a internet police, so what I say is hearsay! I understand the liberal blogs are ripping her a new one.
Why should she not sell books? everyone else does tv to sell them.
What liberal media is ripping her, the way I read it Doug Clark is! Maybe I read it wrong.
Are took it wrong.

By the way I put a lot of faith in Jaycee, it took him 24 hours to explain the Duke case. Even I caught on in a week.
It took the Liberal MSM until after the election to catch up.
Which in my opinion was exactly what the case was about. Get the votes baby, no matter what it takes.
The Duke men should be grateful, to a few people and Fox and the Yankee press. Who demand facts.
