So you want to be a columnist?
In case you missed this notice in the printed newspaper:
CALL FOR COLUMNISTS
The News & Record editorial department is searching for columnists for its new Community Contributors Board. We’re especially interested in finding people from various ethnic backgrounds, ages, professions and political philosophies to write about local issues.
You won't get paid for writing, but you — and your ideas — will get exposure.
Interested? You can apply by sending a letter telling us about yourself, a sample column of no more than 650 words and three column ideas to: opinion@news-record.com or to Columnists, Editorial Dept., 200 E. Market St., Greensboro, N.C. 27401.
The deadline is Jan. 23.

I may not be too interesting to the editorial folks out there, but I'll send in my bit. Gotta try some time, I suppose...

Maybe you should try out to write "The Front Pew" , Eric since it seems that no one else seems to have an interest. I suppose you would have to write the Editoral in the print version also but then considering what is there it would be an improvement. At least what you would write would be more than one liners or old subjects beat like a dead horse.
Nothing since the 20th of Dec in that blog but then, there was not much there to begin with.
Maybe they could change the name to the "back pew"to create some new interest.
Hey Allen, give Eric a shot a both of them. It's bound to be an improvement. Hopefully John will agree.

I bet the News and Record would get a lot of interest from the local community if they took on an atheist as one of their religion reporters/bloggers. Might not be the most welcome attention, fer shure.
Re Nancy's work in her blog... I think she has been working out just how to deal with this medium. It seems to me that generally, she has been trying to give her readers subjects to discuss among themselves mostly, instead of stating an opinion and having others bat it around. I don't doubt that it will develop as she goes along after the holiday break.

eric, been hearing that tale for sometime now. Frankly , don't think her heart is in it.
Heck who knows Eric. With an atheist writting in the religion column it might stir some folks out of their slumber and get them to studying a bit out of that Bible that sits on the shelf gathering dust most of the time. Sure would be interesting huh.
Yea, you probaly right about some of the readers getting upset but then most of them would get upset if I wrote the column too. hahahaha.
