Carolina-Duke, Chapter Two --- I hope

Got my tickets to the ACC Women's Tournament final Sunday at the Greensboro Coliseum.

I'm hoping, of course, that the two conference heavyweights, Carolina and Duke, make it, as expected, to the championship game.

It would be the third game between the two, and, counting the men's faceoff on Saturday night, the second Carolina-Duke game in less than 24 hours.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, would be a very good thing.

You forgot one thing, sir. Duke's women stopped playing the best basketball they are able to play about a month ago. I seriously doubt they'll make it to a regional final in the NCAA, if they keep playing the way they played this afternoon.

Eric, based on today's outcome, you may be right.
On the other hand, a Carolina-Maryland final isn't half-bad. The Terps beat the Heels last time.

In several respects, I think today's tourney final was a good thing for women's basketball. Having yet another Carolina/Duke final would have made the whole thing look like a tedious re-run. Getting Maryland in the final made it a little fresher, and over the long term, I think that will do good things for the ladies.

Now... if we can get Duke, UNC and Maryland into the Final Four...
