The softer side of news

Meredith Viera will be the new co-host of "Today."
Sigh, a game show host will succeed Katie Couric.

Mr. Johnson, just for the record, Viera won Emmys for her work on CBS News/60 Minutes.

Allen Johnson said:

According to a USA Today interview, she also plans to continue hosting "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" during her "Today Show" stint.
Maybe she'll win two more Emmys for each.

Freddy Niché said:

Touché!
Well, Allen, how "credentialed" does she have to be, hosting a morning yak show? It is "info-tainment", after all.

Can you imagine Cronkite schmoozing with some book-shilling author or movie-pumping actor? Not to mention the various fluff pieces about fashion, health and parenting. God, I am sick...I actually have been watching this junk!

Time for an NPR fix.
