Holier than thou
The Rev. Fred Phelps, whose church members picket soldiers' funerals on the premise that God is punishing America for not being tough enough on gays, is coming to town next week to picket the Southern Baptist Convention at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Phelps' beef this time: The dastardly unveiling of a statue of the Rev. Billy Graham, because Graham, too, has become too soft on homosexuals.
If you ask me, God seems to be punishing Greensboro with Phelps' visit.
Maybe we should give him what he deserves and simply ignore him.

Without media coverage, Phelps would fade away. Stay away; help him go gently into that good night. Don't feed the trolls.

Without media coverage for his stupidity he has shown thus far he would simply find another and perhaps even more dangerous way of attracting attention. The man is dangerous as well as deranged. People like him never go away until they are dead and then it takes a few years for even the ghost to disappear.

Good points. He has a tiny following and many of his church members are also family.
But you gotta give him credit; he and Ann Coulter are playing the publicty game like a finely tuned instrument.
