A big week for any town
At the risk of sounding boosterish -- oh, what the hell -- not many places have anything on Greensboro this week.
For starters, the president comes to town Wednesday night.
Then A&T's weeklong homecoming festivities shift into high gear tonight with two concerts (one for the old folks and one for the young'uns) at the coliseum.
Then there's Oprah's appearance at a fund-raiser for Bennett College.
Then the homecoming parade and football game tomorrow.
Then more parties tomorrow night.
Not to mention the usual buzz (and I mean that in a wholesome way) on South Elm Street.
Who needs Charlotte or Raleigh?

Allen,
It's off-topic, but I would like to compliment you and Doug for your ability to discern what is important in an election and endorse Garth Hebert for District 2 School Board. Debbie Maines is a worthy candidate as you noted, but Garth gets the edge because of his unique financial abilities which are desperately needed on this board. I, as a taxpayer in this county, salute you. Salute!

Actually, neither Doug nor I wrote that editorial. Our colleague, Tracie Fellers, did, and she very effectively summarized the editorial board's sentiment. Both are strong, credible and worthy candidates.
But Hebert gets the edge based on his fiscal expertise.
