Drip, drip, drip ...

And the leaki saga goes on and on ... to what end?

And I still wonder the value of this sideshow. The cirumstantial evidence points to Bellamy-Small. She still denies leaking the report.

The mayor says this can't go anywhere from here. Now Florence Gatten is calling for Bellamy-Small's resignation.

The only conclusion I can draw from all this is more theatrics on the council.

Agreed, Allen: "sideshow" is a great way to describe it. There's no benefit to the City Council continuing this saga, but I'm sure it won't stop them.

This week's Rhino has a great cartoon about this debacle, portraying the City Council as "Dudley Do-Nothing" who wastes time on this meaningless "leaker" search, while a real crisis (internal turmoil in the Greensboro Police Department) is ignored. That pretty much sums it up.

Allen,

You know that the News-Record could bring this saga to a conclusion by just revealing the name of who gave you K-11. It's humorous to see your newspaper reporting on this as though it is a great mystery, when you know very well who did it. How about some honesty in reporting here? Or is this helping sell newspapers? Your reporting and editorializing on this matter is marked by duplicity.

Actually, I don't know ... and it's beside the point. The real issue is problems in the police department, not smoking out leaks.

Repairing the GPD is a priority no doubt. However, I think a City Councilwoman possibly breaking the law and violating the trust of the people is a serious matter. If she feels she did what she had to do ... more power to her. But step up, admit it and take your medicine. Civil and legal.

Assuming she is the source (and we don't know that with total certainty) that would be hard to do. She's denied it so many times.

Allen,

You say it's beside the point, but there seems to be much ado about it in Greensboro, and the News-Record. Your reporters keep writing about it and remarking how great a mystery it all is. You, personaly, may not know who leaked it, but someone at the N-R sure as the devil does. I guess that would be JR. Whoever that is needs to step-up and take their medicine along with B-S. At least, have your reporters stop writing that it is a big mystery.

I agree that there are big problems in the GPD, but we may disagree upon what the problems are and who's causing them.

Look, I doubt the N&R would be reporting the story the way it is if Bellamy-Small weren't the leaker. If you think she's not, you're probably insane. But no one really expects politicians to tell the truth, nor does anyone really care if they don't. As with Clinton, it's kind of amusing to see a liar caught redhanded--and you know what? I doubt she was really sick the night of the meeting--but let's dispense with the pretense that lying and leaking actually have consequences. She wanted to manipulate the Wray story in a certain way and she did.

brian444,

You forgot to add that the News-Record provided her willing assistance in that manipulation.

Not quite- motivations surrounding this whole affair is also part of the real issue. The report was leaked on purpose to damage Wray- and the N&R obliged. We should be asking "why?" Clearly, there are ulterior motives at play throughout the whole Wray saga. That may be the real story.

Re: DBS may or may not be leak.

As I have blogged a few times... I am not a reporter or an attorney so I am going to go with that whole "duck analogy". You know the one...

Quack!

If I am wrong so be it. It was her copy we all know (again). There are consequences to one's actions.
