A meet-up? Face to face? Part II

After a slow start I think we actually may be able to get this party started.

How about Wednesday, March 13, at 5 p.m. at The Press in Southside?
Backup date: Thursday, March 14, 5 p.m.

We can meet, get acquainted and save the world over a glass of wine.

RSVP ASAP. Thanks.

I'm in; but no promises on saving Greensboro, let alone the world.

I'll be happy if we could just get rid of the designated hitter. Count me in.

eric said:

I'll pencil it in, contingent on finding out where the heck this place is and whether I can actually in fact get away from work on time that afternoon.

Skeet Club Savage said:

First of all , Allen, is this going to be like a Rhino Smoozefest where we can get our picture taken with pretty girls?

Second, can I tell my wife they are simply N&R functionaries?

Third, in light of the N&R's unabashed support for corruption on the schoolboard, whether it takes the form of granting no-bid contracts to their "buddies" or singular attempts by boardmembers to up-tone their repective neighborhood schools at other peoples' expense, will I have to keep a straight face if you would remark on other peoples' "Cultures of corruption", like you did in today's editorial?

4. If the answer to number three is yes, are tranquilizers allowed?

Please do not get upset. I'm just trying to get some info on the ground rules here.

Doug Clark said:

I'll go if my boss lets me off work that early.

Allen Johnson said:

He probably can be persuaded to. Be great to have you, Doug.

Allen Johnson said:

The main rules are civility, mutual respect and no sharp implements. Spirited disagreement is welcome.

Olga Morgan Wright said:

Count me in. I enjoy spirited conversations and meeting new people.

Allen:

March 13th is Tuesday and the 14th is Wednesday. Do I mark March 13 for Tuesday or March 14th for Wednesday for the gathering.

Thanks.

Allen Johnson said:

Olga:
My mistake. Make that Wednesday, March 14. .

Dave Ribar said:

Pencil me in too. Thanks for setting this up.

Allen Johnson said:

My pleasure, Dave. Should be fun.

Doug Johson said:

I will do my best to be there.I have no idea where this place is. I only come to Greensboro to go to airport. Mostly go to Raleigh airport now.

If bloggers who are also commenters who are also sproradic N&R columnists are invited... AND... if a the joint has a piano... AND... if they have a decent selection of Bourbons, I'll be there.

I'll send my advance team to scope the place out.

Tony Ledford said:

Allen, I'd like to join the group for this meet-up.

Regards,
TL

Truth said:

The tone of the meet up will definitely be low with Hoggy there.

Allen, my lunch invite is still on.

Allen Johnson said:

Aw, give David a break. He'll be the life of the party. As for lunch, what lunch? When? Where?
