Thinking Out Loud

« Imus's remarks | Main | Imus update: MSNBC pulls the plug »

That was then ...

The Sons of Confederate Veterans has come out against a slavery apology by the state Legislature.

Part of their concern is what they see as the fruitlessness of assigning accountability for -- and fixating on -- something that happened when none of us was alive.

In other words, those who would bring this up at this point are living in the past.

Oh, the irony.

This cracks me up. Personally, I wish they'd pass a law requiring everybody to get over it, whatever it is.

"Sons of Confederate Veterans?" How many could there be? Let's see...

Say a 14-years-old boy fought for the Confederacy in the last days of the war; he was born in 1851. So if he fathered his youngest son at the age of seventy, that would have been in 1921, making that boy now an octogenarian of 86 (sometime this year, anyway).

So I guess it's possible that there ARE "Sons of the Confederacy" but I wouldn't think there would be many.

(Okay, okay, I know it isn't supposed to be literal, but it amazes me that people still care about this.)

I'm guessing there aren't many "daughters" of the Revolution, either, but I wouldn't want to be the one to announce that at their tea party.

I thought it was quite interesting the news and record printed the story on the front page but the story was nowwhere to be seen online. I had to put slavery into the web page's search engine to find any article. Can you explain that to me?

You'd actually be surprised as to the number of folks who "still care" and work hard everyday for our beloved South.

I have no problem with the apology of the NC law makers after and I do mean after the norhern states apolgized for the 200+ years of slavery they had before the Confederacy was born.

Just another case of the South having to apologize for something the north did too. But the North doing it...made it okay.

Us see how Vermont does in their bid to leave the union. Wonder how long before they're invaded by government troops.

We live in the past in that we stand for the same form of government that our ancestors fought for, that being Representative Republic. Our Flag and heritage stem from the principles that are contained within that form of government. Our founding fathers, those that framed and invented our form of government did so in order to strictly controle the "excesses of democracy.Representative Republic is ANOTHER form of "popular government",people are lead to believe that both Representative Republic and democracy are the same thing and they are the antithisis of one another. It would do us ALL, well to live in the past in this regard, and return to our intended form of governance, and "controle strictly" the "excesses of democracy" by living the principles of Confederated Republic.

You rights under the Constitution are being erroaded through the processes of the introduction and changing of Americas form of government from Representative Republic to democracy. There are no protections of your rights in democracy and that is why you see them going away.Believe It!!
