Death of a journalist

In the latest dispatch from Richard Prince:

"A 19-year-old handyman who has confessed to killing Oakland journalist Chauncey Bailey with a shotgun is not believed to have worked alone, police said on Monday, raising the possibility that a splinter Black Muslim group conducted the first assassination in memory of a American-born black journalist on American soil."

If there is indeed a group behind Bailey's killing, that group should be labeled a "gang" and should be regarded no differently than any other hate-group.

Equal status with the KKK, the Aryan Nation, the Crips, the Bloods, etc. will have been well-earned, if that's the case.

Intimidation is the name of the game, and it means no one is safe, it represents an act of terrorism, and there's no place for it under the name of any decent religion.

Allen Johnson said:

It's jarring and disturbing to see this happen. Some people have joked about threats on journalists here. This is no joking matter.
